Looks like they have to put up or shut up now. The investors behind this thing are demanding that the prototypes get inspected by independent engineers within 7 days. https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=1696447897298841&id=1616402778636687
I'm just a you tube viewer who started watching him, Lord Karnage and others a long time ago. but it seems like this is what a class act does. Makes a video to genuinely explain his position when such a debacle occurs that's sincere and truthful. Again, I don't know the man but it sure seems like he's just one more person who was maybe duped a little or is the type person who wants to believe the best of people. Thanks for sharing LeHaM.
there never will be one, they'll just wait for the internet to find something else... No ones talking about the fine bros for example...
Well duh, because how can we have a reaction to them when they trademarked the word! Like how Sony tried to trademark "Let's Play" a month or so ago. Maybe they'll come back up as the... *spins video game nostalgia wheel* TIGER BOY!
Well, presumably they/Mike Kennedy will have some excuse to give to the company that owns the Coleco name when they conduct their investigation. Whether or not we get to hear it is another story. The thing is 100% dead as a doornail at this point and even deader once the Coleco name is inevitably revoked so I kinda doubt that Mike K. will bother to make a public post about it. I really look forward to seeing if he has the gall to try reviving this thing yet again.
It's dead, not that it was ever alive. However Mike still has those molds, he could just make some nice money selling repro Jag and cart shells in cool colours but I don't think that's his style. So the question is what is he going to do with those molds now?
If he wanted, I wouldn't be surprised if the Jaguar community offered to buy the molds off of him. From what I've seen, they seem like a pretty sizable group for a console that most people don't realize existed.
Pretty good video here: Apparently the money he made from selling Jag shells was used to finance his magazine and the Kickstarter funds would be reimbursing him for the molds via his other company. Ugh......
I WAS RIGHT, HE DIDN'T ACTUALLY BUY THE MOLDS! I'm a genius and deserve your Kickstarter money more than he does.
Well technically he did buy them but always with a view to being reimbursed, he loaned the money to his Gamegavel company and was looking to pay himself back from Kickstarter funds. The more we learn about this guy the less likeable he becomes, at first I just thought he was a clueless dreamer who was in over his head, now it seems more sinister than that.
Probably the final update, from Colecovision's Facebook page: "The Update that you were all anxiously awaiting: Retro VGS has decided that the work that they have created is not sufficient to demonstrate at this time. Consequently, we can no longer proceed with the project and the Chameleon project will be terminated. This separation is amicable. We wish them luck in the future. - We thank the gaming community for their continued support, input, vigilance and trust." Retro VGS took their site and Facebook page down today (the Facebook was up last night). So it's officially over. For now. The only thing that comes to mind is:
