Yeah I agree with barc0de... that goth dude looks ace! Kids went wild over haircuts like that over here, it's like Dragonball Z but more badass ^^
I think its more the fact that Nintendo is saying "Hey 12 year olds, this is how cool looks today!". I mean, is that 12 year old really gonna take the time to chain up 55 useless cumbersome chains that lead from his belt to his pants leg, spike his hair AND braid it, put on eye shadow and eyeliner then paint his nails? I really dont think so. Call me old fasioned but if someone is dressing like that, they are just looking for attention no matter what they tell you. Im sure the chains are nice, and how each one signify's something in your life but not everyone wants to see or hear about it. Much like this one kid my little sister hangs around with. He brought his chains, winter hat and everything up to the country for a day when it was 90+ degrees out. He also brought his skateboard. A lot good that will do you on DIRT AND STONE roads! I blame Kingdom Hearts for everything!!! :110:
The answer is yes actually. As a kid I had and still wear a (The same) chain on my pants, VANS shoes, and formed my hair in weird formations as I delightfuly enjoyed the corresponding type of music and skateboarded, although my parents were often against it. I almost got kicked out of school for being a "little punk" back in the day, as I had also spray-painted my hair blue, although I was in 6th grade! It is not a recent fashion at all. After watching movies such as the "Breakfast Club", and many cartoons such as the Ninja Turtles, and Dragonball the whole punkish/excessive way of looking feels cool to the person himself. Even as we speak, if you go to the introduction page, you ll see that I enjoy having a Goku-like hair-cut because I think it does look cool. I think nintendo is aiming pretty well right now. Judging from my own self at that age, and even this age (since I try to persuade myself that I still haven't grown up that much, despite the fact that I study at a uni a pretty difficult subject) the advertisment in question is spot-on for engaging people such as myself, and my little relatives (who look up to their older cousin) to buy the Wii. Hell, when I (someday) have a son I'd love to see him look as cool as that and skate around the block recking havoc and annoying my neighbours ^_^ EDIT: Above, yours trully at age 14, them spikes were pretty long
I think that goth kid is a girl. While I liked rayman2 I have to say, screw rayman. Freaking give me beyond good & evil 2 insted.
British punk == cool. American crapy goth/punk == well crap. :katamari: I spent too much time around goth & punk in high school.
Surrounding music there's always something nice and something lame, depending on your background, taste etc. But on the topic of the advertisment, the goth/punk kid , I believe, appeals to both sides of the pond.
No, i would say that it isnt a Ps2 screenshot. The lighting is more advanced than anything I've seen on PS2. It is however obviously a port from the PS2 version.
Uhm....wasn't the revolution supposed to have "great" graphical innovating features...? I recall somebody (dont know if here or on IGN) posting a link on a nintendo? patent for a no-fixed-point-scene generator.....or am i wrong? Could it be Nintendo is still hiding mostly of the rev..ooops Wii *argh* features?
It is from the PS2 version, you obviously haven't played Rayman 3, have you? That title had quite impressive lightning.
I mean, it's a standard resolution non hd compat system with minimal ram. Better get used to screens like that.
I'd laugh hard if anyone achieves the emulation of a next gen console on another next gen console even low-level , slow emulation would suffice to make an ass out of them ;p EDIT: Personally I have come up with a few innovative game designs with the new controller (for whenever I hopefuly start my venture) and I can clearly feel the bottleneck of a limited visual appeal. The controller is fine for gameplay, but when you want to express drama and emotion beyond the point of artistic conception, the need is eminent for details and beautiful landscapes.
but something of the ilk of Rez, or even Cosmic Smash is possible here. I mean you can make art - you can make games worlds - with enough visual appeal with the current tools - but to actually create something not shallow and generic takes a true artist. you don't need a billion polygons and ultra dinamic lighting to make something spectacular. it's good the PS3 and the 360 are pushing the envelope here - but if everyone where concentrated on doing this there would be no diversity - and diversity is one of the spices of life. less does not necessarily mean inferior.
No, and a true artist works within these sort of restrictions, however it seems Nintendo is implementing them almost artificially. There's no reason the Wii should be less powerful than 360/Ps3. A less powerful system doesn't mean the focus will be on gameplay, it just limits the possibilities.
There's one good reason the Wii should be less powerful than the 360 and PS3: it's going to be half the price. As far as your argument about limiting possibilities, there are a bunch of ways in which all 3 of the systems could be said to be limiting possibilities: PS3 and 360 by not adopting strange new controllers, PS3 by using an unknown CPU architecture that will confuse developers for years, etc etc. Means nothing. The main thing that's being limited by having a slower processor is polygon count, and that's one of my lower priorities since graphical finesse doesn't equate easily with a number.
