Yeah, like those 2nd mario games for the N64 & Gamecub, Super Paper Mario for the GC, Kirby for the GC, etc.
First off, towards the end didn't Yuji Naka always say he didn't want to make another NiGHTS because to him it was like E.T. is to Spielburg and he didn't think he could really make it any better? Second, I haven't played Shadow the Hedgehog, but I will confess to enjoying Sonic on the 360 alright. Sonic and the Secret Rings eventually grew on me a little too. Third, while Takisha Izuka was the lead designer for NiGHTS, I still don't know how I feel about it not having Yuji Naka and/or Naoto Oshima working on it. Its like Tomohiro Kondo, Yukio Futatsugi, and Manabu Kusunoki not working on Panzer Dragoon Orta... I dunno, I'm just typically more concerned about the people making the games than the IPs. At any rate, given that NiGHTS is one of my favorite games ever, I'll maintain the hope that it won't completely suck ass.
Yeah, or TP which almost didnt get released on the GC.... BTW, jp. those guys from the PD games are still working at SEGA? or they went to make their own studios like mitzuguchi?
Most of Team Andromeda went to Artoon along with Naoto Oshima (director of NiGHTS, co-creator of Sonic, etc. etc. etc.) and Yoji Ishii (head of Sega R&D during the Saturn era, maybe earlier). Manabu Kusunoki (the master mind behind the style of the PD games), Hidetoshi Takeshita (the main programmer for the PD games), and a lot of Team Andromeda all went with them to Artoon. Yukio Futatsugi, the director of the original Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Saga (he also had a hand in PDIIZwei) got picked up by Microsoft Japan and made Phantom Dust. But what he's done since and if he's still with MS Japan is beyond me. And yes... I know... Artoon made Blinx and Blinx 2. And made Yoshi's Island DS (though I think thats a fairly decent game). My rebutal is that they also made Blue Dragon and were given Cry On after Cavia screwed up with it. Edit: OK, I just did some research. Apparently Futatsugi is still with Microsoft Game Studios Japan and is working closely with Mistwalker/Artoon. Good to know! Its almost like Team Andromeda is alive again!
Well just an off topic question , i have heard that some employees from Team Andromeda went to Polyphony [GT fame] and one of the games that was made by them was Omega Boost for ps, is it true cause the game has some similarities to the pd [not saga ] series.
UGH, i hope it doesn't stay a wii exclusive. i never had the luxury of owning a sega saturn as a child, so i'd like to give nights a shot now without having to painstakingly search for a decent copy and a segasaturn. although i'll probably end up doing that someday anyway.
It will stay a wii exclusive so go buy a wii or else. Still, the original Nights can't be surpassed in my view, go get a Saturn and learn the swap-trick
I doubt it. The people that didn't wind up at Artoon were at Smilebit. They may have gone there after Smilebit broke up, but that would've been way later. Honestly, I imagine a lot of them are still at Sega. But most are at Artoon. ;-) And maybe Microsoft Game Studios Japan if Futatsugi took any favorites with him.
You mean the one with the piece of paper? I wanted to do that but I heard it could seriously damage your Saturn, and mine isnt in mint condition...
better tell that to Yakumo then, he's been doing it for ten years now ;-) and so have other people. Installing a mod-chip is riskier than doing the swap trick
Saturn + Swap trick = No problem ! It's true ! Unless you have hands like an ape with the touch of a rhino you'll never have a problem with your Saturn drive from disc swapping. The system may have a shitty cartridge port but it's CD drive is like a tank. Yakumo
Interesting, so anyway, any other recomendations? like recording speed for the CDR or brands that may be bad for the drive? Thanks for the tip.
Recording speed won’t make any difference and as for brands I've used the cheapest crap on the planet to the most expensive. All are good as far as the Saturn goes. The only game I had that ever gave me trouble was a Hong Kong pressed version of Donpachi. Yakumo
nope. I have a cart that will boot CDRs though. It's called the Magic Card V2. It even puts up a text message over the Saturn's CD player screen telling you to change discs in really bad Engrish. Yakumo
Really? cuz (at least on the DC) if you record at high speeds the pits get streched (or something like that) and it stresses the GD drive.
Maybe that's because the DC laser is slightly different since it needs to ready such tinny details on the GDROM. I've burned Saturn discs at x40 speed without any trouble. Dreamcast I do on x8 at most. Yakumo
as most of us know, the DC's drive is comprised of standard off-the-shelf parts that are slightly tuned. The drive has CAV and spins a GD-rom at half the speed of standard CD drives. Other than that, it has no excuse to not be able to read CD-R sd good as the Saturn does. Another factor might be that the Saturn uses x2 speed to read all discs, wereas the DC uses a much higher speed (enter errors) The Saturn is a beast. With some slight tuning to get the laser stronger people have been able to make it read even CD-RWs!
