I've just done my first TSOP flash on a 1.0 board. Did it through EvoX with the X2 5035 bios. Seemed to go fine and said the Xbox will now turn off. Since then whenever it boots I get a "Xecuter 2 config live loading" screen before the flubber animation, and then an "Xecuter rox my box" at the bottom where the microsoft logo used to be (I thought it would just say xecuter 2). And then a blank screen. Now I've stuck another hard drive in and formatted/prepared it with AID and it's booting fine. But what's happened on the original hard drive - where's the dashboard? Is this normal... are you supposed to reformat/prepare your stock hard drive after a TSOP flash? Also, how do I get rid of the annoying "Xecuter 2 config live loading" message on every boot and change the "Xecuter rox my box" logo?
I bet I know what the problem is. You must have set it up as a soft mod with AID. If it boots with the xecuter 2 bios and you have it setup as a soft mod the screen will freeze just as the X screen with the rox my box at the bottom just as it fades just a little bit. You cant get rid of the Xecuter 2 config loading screen. But you can kill the flubber screen and make it a really fast boot up. You need to get the X2 config tool. That will allow you to customize the bios and boot options for it. There is a newer version that uses http://www.eurasia.nu/modules.php?n...ils&lid=2348&ttitle=X2_Config_Maker_v5035-0.3
You'll have to boot SID and uninstall your softmod previously. This is a warning I tell many "first time TSOPers" most of the time they would of had a softmod install originally.
Ah thanks man, will look into the tool for customizing options. Yeah you're right in that the console was softmodded prior to flashing the BIOS, looks like I'll need to run AID on the stock hard drive to get it working again. I thought you had to have a softmod in order to FTP the BIOS files over? Maybe we can get a sticky for TSOP/flashing in this section to go along with the softmod one...
Softmodding before TSOPing is just a shortcut. Originally the process works similar to softmodding through exploit, but instead of installing a custom dashboard it loads EvoX and allows you to flash your custom BIOS to the TSOP. Even with the original process, you can FTP your BIOS over without softmodding prior. I've been meaning to make a TSOP tutorial for a while, just haven't had the motivation lately.
Ah right! Now I get it... so instead of installing the softmod from SID, just get FTP access, copy over the BIOS, and then run the dashboard from disc and flash away. Might try that next time I do a TSOP. I'm quite happy this one has worked at least, considering the mess I made of the soldering lol.
Not quite. Save exploit to load evox, which has bios flashing and ftp server built in. Copy over your dashboard files and flash tsop, reboot = win.
If you just want to get rid of it, set "showMsEn = 0" in the .ini file. In theory it should be able to put a "x2logo.bmp" file (size 180x50, 256 colors) in the root directory together with the .ini file to replace the Xecuter logo but it didn't work in my case.
Since the BIOS attemps to load a config from the HDD it has to wait for the HDD to spin up, which is why there's a loading screen . Same reason for ind-bios doing that. Xecuter 3 BIOS read a config from storage on the modchip its self so no load times. I imagine you'd have to patch the kernel to remove the load screen.
Thats why I like the X3 The X3 is better than sliced bread! Once you get rid of the flubber screen the X2 bios is not that bad with load times. All you need to change the rox my box logo is the x2logo.bmp drop it in the root of the E: drive and it will read that one instead. Also works for the X3 chip but you name it x3logo.bmp If you need some of them I have a bunch of them already done that I got a while ago. Some really cool ones also! Here is a sample of one. All the rest are .bmp files and I cant upload those here. But trust me they are way better than those!
Ah the good old days of Tsop flashing. Bridge the points on the board & then used James Bond to load unleash x dash (I made a custom unleash x installer) that you can select what bios you want to flash & the load a custom evox dash to flash. current setup 128mb ram mod & Tsop flashed with ind-bios, I also made a load of custom dx models for the flubbed replacement. can get my custom flubbers here. If I want to give the IND 5003 BIOS a go, do I just copy the files to the console and go through evox to flash it again? There's a few files in the download: iND-BiOS.5003.06.bfm.bin iND-BiOS.5003.06.bin iND-BiOS.5003.67.bfm.bin iND-BiOS.5003.67.bin iND-BiOS.5003.nfo ind-bios.cfg Do I copy all these across? And will it just overwrite the X2 5035 BIOS automatically?
The files with .67 in there name are only used if you have/want a G partition & I don't think you have one so use the .06 file. you need to place the ind-bios.cfg in the C partition, but configure it first, before you do anything because it will hang if you don't point it to your dashboard file. so flash iND-BiOS.5003.06.bin it will overwrite the current bios on the chip. (do not use the iND-BiOS.5003.**.bfm.bin files these will brick your xbox) so in this order. 1. Configure the cfg files, you should have got the app to do it with the bios files. 2. Place the ind-bios.cfg file in C Partition. 3. Flash the bios to your xbox. now if you want to use my .x files, you need to configure them via the app & then transfer the files over to the xbox. (Just keep everything bios related in the C partition) just take your time & nothing should go wrong. (Check things 3 times to be safe) here is my config file (included in the monster energy drink folder) use this as an example, for yours. (Good idea to setup recover dashboards to, in case you delete your main dashboard by accident)
Thanks man, really appreciate the comprehensive reply! It's made it a whole lot clearer now. I've had a look at the config app that came with it, and noticed there's an option to inject the cfg into the bios, I'm guessing that's not necessary? Also as this is a 256k bios, will flashing with Evox automatically size it up on my 1.0 board? (I think it should as the X2 was 512k and that went fine).
Yep. Also 1.0-1.1 have 1MB TSOP. So even the best BIOS will work on it. Apart from X3, since it's encrypted.
I saw a hacked X3 bios somewhere I did not bother with it since the whole point of the X3 bios is the on screen menu that lets you make changes with no config files. The hack X3 bios can not do that. The X3 has the hardware for that. I am gonna see if I can track it down again to see what it is all about. What is the Bfm about and why will it brick a console? iND-BiOS.5003.67.bfm.bin?
BFM= Boot From Media, these bios files are loaded from HDD. Should be used when you softmodded your xbox... Flashing this files to TSOP will pobably brick you console. You rather should use ND-BiOS.5003.67.bin for TSOP flashing
Dont inject the cfg file, it doesn't work. If you flash the bios with a cfg injected your xbox won't function. Yes evox will just write the file 4 times to fill the 4 banks. Bit more info what the bios 06/67 do. .06 if you use Unleash X to format the F partition it will use all the remaining GB's, but the higher you go in the F partition the more prone it is to corrupting. .67 allows the use of a G partition & if you use Unleash X to format the F & G partitions F will only use 137/9GB's & the G partition takes the remaining GB's. now this only apples if you use UnleashX or Evox to partition (format) if you use Xbox Partitioner 1.1 you need not worry what bios you flash, since it will just read the partition tables on the HDD & not use the hacks.
Been reading as much as i can about TSOP but it isnt really clear anywhere, bits and pieces everywhere but i will post my plans and see if my thinking is correct. I have a 1.0 xbox with softmodded using ndure/hotswap method. I want to install a 2TB HDD to make a portable. I currently have a sata drive working in the xbox already. I was planning on running the x2 5035 bios as well. 1. TSOP solder the correct points. 2. Install EvoX and transfer the x2 5035 bios files. 3. Run the BIOS Flash in the EvoX to flash new bios onto the chip. 4. Install new HDD. 5. Run AID or Hexen to format/install new HDD 6. Run Xbpartitioner to make sure im using all of the HDD space. 7. Play. Am i missing anything? Also whenever you load X2 Bios can you use different Dash's? Was thinking i might want to give XBMC a look to see how i like it. All ive used so far is UnleashX. Thanks in advance.
