That socket is for DIP, DC bios is SMD.

SMD test sockets are pretty expensive. If you want the ability to swap to the original bios - just do the piggyback install.

    Hi,

I've received the PS1 - Mayumi v4. Soldered it according to the diagram in the first post here. The chip has been installed in a PAL SCHP-7502 C.
It works and loads import games (haven't tried any backup).
Only problem is that sometimes it goes to the Audio CD menu instead of loading the game. After a reset the game will load just fine.

Any help on this? is it expected that it doesn't load 100% of the times? I've tried not so many times but I'd say it worked 70% of the times.

Is there anything I should check in my installation?

Hi, I've received and installed the Mayumi v4 in my European SCPH -7502 psx according to this diagram.
It works fine loading jap imports but sometimes (30% of the times) it goes to the Audio CD menu. A reset works just fine, meaning after the reset the game loads.

Could this be related to a bad install? Is it expected?

Does it work 100% of the time on a reset?

You could try adding a decoupling cap to the chip (between pins 1 and 8, 100nf/0.1uf ceramic cap).

If that works, you probably have a poor PSU or caps in the system.

thanks also i made the payment to u for those chips and pm you my name and address.

lets hope i dont break a pin off again but to be fair it wasnt my fault lol the wire i used was very thin and i soldered the chip to the bios and everything perfectly and most of the wires but one came off a few times and when i tryed to solder in on for the last time it broke the pin off :(

    EDIT:
@Bad_Ad84 you know about consoles, i just bought a snes and some component connectors the chip in mine is S-ENC B if i remember, doesnt that mean i just need to solder wires to it and dont need and resisters ect

Sorry if this sounds clueless what's the difference between the Saturn chips? New to all this and have got a second Saturn for pennies and thought I might attempt to mod bios and possibly switchless 50-60hz. Console I have got is a version two with the circle buttons

Sorry for sounding a spoon just wanna have a go see if I can do it.

    Cheers

The form factor of the chip. Most consoles are SMD, very early model 1's are DIP.

You can open it up and check.
