That reminds me... this is a little off topic, but back when Time Crisis was out, I wanted to recreate the arcade experience as much as possible. My dad and I found out that if you plug a second controller in with the Guncon, pressing any button will hide/reload. We rigged up a PS1 controller inside a foot pedal so that when you put your foot on it it presses buttons on the controller. I thought it was quite innovative.

A lot of images posted are just magazine images, and not real concept designs... Just remember to label your images correctly.

I really dig the Super Famicom devolopment pics. The US SNES was so ugly in comparison.

and an Master System floppy drive, not sure who owns this, if anyone. This picture did appear in Retro Gamer's rare stuff artical (which seemed to mainly be about this forum) and they claimed it to be a picture from a mobile phone - but it was posted on SMSPower befor camara phones exsisted, apparently from Famitsu issue 12, page 7. - I have no more info :(

Perhaps it would have been better for Omar to post thease pics himself but I just wanted this thread to grow abit, it's got some cool in it stuff allready.

I wonder why Sega changed that cooler looking bios for the dull one western owners got stuck with? As for the Floppy, that would have been a very nice add on but you can't help feel it was Sega's last attempt to try and beat the Famicom in Japan.

    That's the SNES CD, GoH.

There was allegedly an unreleased Famicom design, too...

I remember a magazine publishing concept drawings of the Super Famicom, one of which looked much like the final design, but with more ports (3, I think?). I can't find it, though :-(

You could also buy a foot pedal controller especially for the game, but yeah, great idea. Namco used to do things like that back in the day. Although the 'guest' always ended up with the toe cheese controller from then on

Looking at those prototype PS1 controllers...damn. Some of those make the Bananarang look good. And why do I find that collection of proto-PS logoes faintly creepy?

On a side note, it's funny how a lot of these designs are all over the freakin' map, but most of the variations of the 360 are fairly close to what actually shipped. The main differences are the design of the power button, the number of front USB ports and whether there are multiple flaps for the USB ports or just one. It just surprises me how every single one uses the concave design...

I have some really whacky Dreamcast proto pictures if anyone is interested in seeing them. I used to have them all in a section over on my site but took them down a few years back.

I think that 360 proto Pikkon posted looks better than the released one. It looks like it's made out of high quality metal, rather than the crappy plastic that the final one got. I wonder if anyone makes metal faceplates for it?

Yakumo: Yeah, I'd love to see those pictures.
