WHAT'S THIS A NEW NINTENDO IP THAT IS ACTUALLY SELLING WELL? What Sorcery is this?

It's one of the games that's tempted me to break my Nintendo Boycott. (the others being Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros Wii U) I'm glad to see some new Idea from Nintendo sell well.

Nintendo has been relying on gimmicks for way too long now. The Wii and the DS were successful and they thought that by making a new ''interesting'' way to play games with the Wii U gamepad and 3DS's 3d they would be successful.

The 3DS turned around a few years ago and is doing great now.
I don't think they will have the same experience with the Wii U, their marketing was and still is quite horrible.

When will the Wii U have another price drop? I remember them saying a decent bit ago another one wouldn't happen for a while, but we'll see. The whole NX business might spur on a price drop faster.

If you don't mind losing the Sony exclusives like Bloodborne or the upcoming Uncharted game, then I would recommend to invest those $400 in a new GPU. If you have a relatively recent PC, then a GPU upgrade should make your PC gaming ready. Just a buy a controller and you are all set.

Although, in some cases I personally prefer consoles. I like the fact that you can actually collect things for them and there are not extra problems unlike with PC's.

Bloodborne is going to be the first thing i get with my PS4. Rime also has my interest and even though I beat it on PS3, Last of us Remastered. Arkham Knight (when gets it's inevitiable GOTY edition) amongst other things.

I heard an interesting tidbid about the NX. That it's going to be a spin off product like the early DS, It's not meant to replayce the 3DS or WII U but be it's own thing. We'll see how true that is.

Splatoon is incredible fun. I spent most of my weekend playing it and I have to say, it's one of the more pleasant surprises I've seen this year.

The multiplayer is an absolute blast, and not having voice chat is actually a good thing. Granted, by August Nintendo is going to add a lot of stuff to Splatoon (including parties), so it'll be a much larger game then, especially considering that they're putting out a new map and weapon for free today (and I think everything through August is going to be free).

As for as multiplayer-focused* games go, this beats the pants off of Titanfall.

    * - It's a bit disingenuous to call Splatoon multi-player focused though, as that ignores the fact that Splatoon actually has a pretty fun single player mode. The focus is on online play, but there is some good solo fun to be had there, unlike in say Left4Dead or Titanfall.

Looks wise it looks like a lost N64 game remastered in HD.

As much as I can't stand Nintendo and their Policies, they are BRINGING IT with the games on Wii U. I pretty much have to pick one up. Just a matter of when. In the end it's the games that matter.

I have a few Let's Plays up of the game on youtube.
So far only story mode videos, but I'll probably toss up some of the regular matches in a bit. Perhaps dive in when I get the ranked matches up and you can see me get my ass handed to me!

Here is the latest video, but I have two parts before that one up :)

Yep, that was my thought too, especially playing through the single player. I know a lot of people like to say that Splatoon looks like a lost Dreamcast game, and maybe in a sense it is similar with the arcadey-creativity, but I've felt like it seemed more like a throwback to stuff like Jet Force Gemini.

That said, despite owning an Xbox One, the Wii U has been my console of choice games wise every year since it came out. It may not have the third party games, but the other consoles can't even begin to compete in terms of exclusive goodness.

    Edit:
Also, I read somewhere that the game is practically sold out in Japan and Nintendo issued an apology saying they'd restock it soon. If that's true, that's fantastic news.

Also GoH, there is a Splatoon Wii U bundle for $300. ;)

From what I played with the Global Testfire demo, it was fun. The only reason I don't have it yet ids because I keep forgetting to get it. The motion controls in the demo were annoying and not being able to turn them off was really irritating.

Good to hear they fixed that. Well my only one known complaint is fixed then.

The whole region lock, amiibo situation and not having a decent regional distributor kills any plans of actually getting anything Nintendo related (at least for me).

Honestly, this one just reeks of sour grapes and whining.

The Amiibos dont really do much aside from an outfit and a couple weapons (that are outclassed by anyhting level 10+), and region lock is a plague that hits everything Nintendo.

And not only THAT, I was able to snag the Amiibo box set, for retail price, MONTHS after they were announced on frigging Walmart.com, the first place to get them that many looked. Yea, some of the amiibos are absurdly hard to obtain, and the way Nintendo is handling this is absurdly retarded, however the Splatoon ones, the ones he said were the one step too far, weren't. This one was just a temper tantrum.

Oh yea, the dirty amiibo images was really mature. Lost a lot of respect on him for this one.

Anybody play through the story mode yet? I'd be curious to see how long it took you to complete it.

Believe me, he was one of the few people that defended amiibos and even Nintendo itself.

You can say his humour is dumb, but overall most of his complaints / opinions is spot on.

On the subject, yesterday a brazilian game distributor (NC Games) announced they'll bring amiibos to the country even though there's no official Nintendo official distributor anymore. The price? 150 Reais, which is almost 48 dollars. And you thought scalpers were bad.

I thought he was pretty spot on but he had a really ignorant perspective on the whole gamergate debacle iirc
