    Hi,

I checked out the FTP and have a few suggestions.

    1. I uploaded a file called TEST to the checked folder. It allowed me to do this, but I did not have delete permission. If you are moving things to the checked folder personally, I would suggest blocking write access for the user, so we can't. ONLY stuff that has been checked by you can be put in there, then.

    2. It is a little confusing where we are supposed to upload to. How about an UPLOADS folder? The uploads and incomplete folders get full write access, but not the checked folder.

    3. Yes, the checked folder needs organizing. As I see it, there are a couple of options:

    A. Have a folder for each manufacturer, and subfolders for each console within, e.g.:

    B. Have a folder for each console, preferably in manufacturer order, e.g.:

Either way, I would only make the folder when there is something to go in it! It is better than loads of empty folders.

    4. The idle time of 10 minutes might be a bit long. I don't think anybody needs 10 minutes to browse a folder!

I think it'd be best organized by like this:

    SN ProD5 N64
    SN ProD5 PS2
    SN ProD5 GBA
    SN ProD5 GC
    SN PsyO SNES
    SN PsyO 32X
    SN PsyO MD
    Misc Docs SNES
    Misc Docs 2600
    Misc Docs PSX

Theres no reason to have a whole lot of folders with 0/1 file in them ;)

But that's what will come of your way!

You're suggesting 1 folder per hardware.

There are 3 Saturn dev consoles. Then there are 2 debuggers. Then the ICE box. 2 virtual CD devices. 1 sound box.

So, under your suggestion, we would have:

    Cross CartDev
    Cross Mirage
    Hitachi E7000 ICE
    IS Debugger
    Psygnosis/SN Psy-Q
    Sega VCD card
    Sega/SI Debugger
    Sophia Systems Target Box
    Sophia Systems Sound Box

    As opposed to:

    Sega Saturn

    hmm, interesting ;-)

Yes I am ;) If there are many files for each piece of hardware, it'd be far more organized than a assload in one console folder. However, if there are few files for each hardware piece, (and are the complete software collection for that unit) I suggest they are archived into a single file that remains in the directory with the hardware-specific folders.

Well, IMHO, unless you're a lazy or greedy c*nt, you'll be getting software for one platform. Kinda hard to dev for more than one platform at once, with decent results.

So, you want something for PSX. You go into the Playstation folder. There you see several folders. You choose the relevant machine. There. Two double clicks and you're at what you want.

So whats up with the DC Dreamcast WinCE (v2.12) & DirectX (6.1) SDK ver 2.1.rar file? What error message is it giving? I'm sure the transfer was completed and now if I try to resume I get a "550 Permission denied" message

    hey Kyuusaku

i too get errors trying to download or resume anything in the incomplete folder. permission error.

and as far as downloading for multiple platforms goes. I don't find it greedy. I've got dev stuff on a bunch of platforms, and have used much of it. Having said that, you shouldn't just download for the sake of downloading. This isn't for collectors, its for developers right? So take in to account the size of the files and the speed you're getting, and think of others :)

But multiplatform isn't wrong in my mind. Especially as some of this stuff I haven't seen before (and some of this stuff, you might not see again). 32x.zip for example, the ps2 tech doc iso (incomplete?), etc. Still, I've uploaded more than I've downloaded.

Yeah, that is because too many people are downloading.

Now, I limited simultanous logins to 5.
    I also set the permissons:

    - You can upload/resume in the Incomplete and Upload folder (but you cannot download)
    - You can only download from the Checked folder
    - You cannot write to the root directory

I will create an upload account, so you can still upload if 5 people are logged in.

I check both archives and ISOs for completeness and readability.

Sounds very interesting! I'd like an account too, please.

I think I've got some N64 stuff to trade, I will have to have a look at my files when I am at home.

I completed DTL-S4023 upload but I uploaded it to the incomplete folder, however every last byte is there the same as on my HDD. I can't be bothered looking for my other stuff nor do I want to lose a whole day uploading, so maybe I'll upload something else tomorrow :fu

I suggest having 2 main folders in the root, UPLOAD (set to upload only) and DOWNLOAD (set to download only). No other directories would be required in UPLOAD as any files in there would be moved by the admin to DOWNLOAD when they're finished, but the DOWNLOAD folder should definitely be separated by manufacturer and console. Also file names should be clear as to what they contain. There is a hardware and os pdf on there right now, but hardware and os for what? There is also a 32x archive, but is it for the PsyQ or not? Hence file names should be clear and concise ;-)

    OK, I'll soon do that.

"UPLOAD" is anyway only for uploading, "CHECKED" (will soon become "DOWNLOAD") is only for downloading.

I will post soon a directory listing of all files.

Please, all who uploaded, write which release belongs to which category.

    @HI_Ricky:
I think your FTP will be slow too, when so many people access it.
Besides that, most people on this board are from Europe or USA, so download from HK will be slow
