    Thx, i'll check it out.

    @FTP users:
You may also give the account data to other serious members on this board, but please don't share it anywere outside the board, as the server is non-public and only for us at ASSEMbler Games board and not for leech-all-you-can kids at other boards.

Posting of account data at other boards = More logins/downloading from leechers = Less bandwidth for you

Hmm.. really wish people would finish what they start in the upload folder. some nice stuff. just a tease :p

And i'm told that the wince &directx6 in Incomplete is complete. Also the tech iso in there.

I'm not meaning to complain, just that those files were said to be complete by the uploaders?

Fire-WSP, I'm afraid the FTP is only for established members.

Try posting in the "Introduce Yourself" thread before jumping in and asking for something as your first post ;-)

And before anyone asks, he doesn't get my normal post cuz he (sorta) put his location ;-)

  10. Personally, I would recommend the following 'basic's' to ensure things are kept clean and up to date on an FTP:

1-Create and name a parent directory folder relating to the system thats being uploaded.

2-Create and name a sub folder within this directory the exact name as the final target file or image.

3-Now the crucial bit, this folder should have the following kept in it.

    >The Rar file or parts of Rar files: Ideally each complete 'large' image should be broken up into say 50mb parts. It's bad practice to upload one big file as this carries a greater chance of corruption risk.

    >An SFV file: Google if you don't understand what an SFV check is. Basically it's a way of checking the data in a Rar file against a master record created from the original Rar.

    >An accurate NFO: Fairly obvious but essential. Some form of included information about the image or file is essential.

    >And finally the most important part, a 'readme text' or 'text file' that tells the leech the percentage at which the upload is at. This is simple but damn well crucial. This allows the uploader to inform the leech's as to the exact state of play with the upload. A simple folder named '100% complete' is easiest (Or whatever the % state of the upload)

...Soon as I get chance I will upload what I regard as the 'perfect' folder, just to demonstrate ;-)

Their shouldn't be any need for 'checked', 'incomplete' and 'uploads' folders!

...As you fire into the FTP it should just show the parent folder's direct. It should be the responsibility of the uploader to ensure that he uploads to the correct place, and he should provide the correct information for files he's uploading.

...If everyone worked this way this FTP could be one of the best around.

...It's already good, lets make it the best, it's what our kind host deserves :smt023

  11. Lol, well I tried to upload a 'good example' but got permission denied!!!!

I will check the FTP today.

I changed permissions so that Uploads couldn't be done into the Download folder (to avoid people from uploading fakes).

I will look into it. Just, I want to have the possibility to check uploads, so the FTP is not filled with incomplete and useless garbage.

I disabled download for 3.0 SDK, because a member told me, that its digitally signed and he will upload a replacement 2.7 SDK that is not signed.

Polak, you're probably best off posting about yourself in the "Introduce Yourself" thread in off topic first ;-)

What's the rate things move from incoming to outgoing? I dropped some stuff in last week and it hasn't moved over. Just kind of curious.

the rate is exactly what you describe. not existant. most tools aren't fully uploaded though.
