The funny thing is, they don't even sell DS. I asked the manager, and he said they were a mistake, and that is why he had clearanced them. They don't have much, it's a small cart with dvds on one side, and games on the other. I got grabbed by the ghoulies (fianlly, refuse to pay $30), r-type final, dai senryaku, romance 7, and a few others. Some as low as $3.99
damm thats a deal, walmart had about 5 or 6 psp games, ATV, wipeout, THUG for 18.97 CDN, oh and about 20 copies of blue stinger for the dc, those were 5 bucks, not to mention, i've seen new sealed SNES games for sale recently Ryan
If you're looking for NOS games, check out FYE, they have first gen games. I got a sealed yan yan cabalista and some other oddball games for $5.99-$9.99 Coconuts is a good place too, as is sam goody. I got some sealed gitaroo man games from a sam goody.
The only time I buy new games is when I want to support the company or designer that made it, and when I want to make it known that this is a good game and more should be made. I try to do this, I should say. Sometimes I'm broke. ^_^;; EA games (ie. Burnout) and games I don't particularly care about, whether it be because I know I'll play it once or I'm doing it to complete a set, I buy used.
That's also why I mostly just buy new games. And I'm also the type that never buy a game if I know wont play it through. one of very the very few games I've bought and never completed is FF8, why did they make this pile of...
Think of them as overpriced non-game focused stores. They tend to build up a lot of nice nos games, and then blow them out at clearance when they don't sell three years later. Coconuts is where I got a case of sealed harvest moon snes a few years back for $7.99 each. fye coconuts sam goody Should come up on yahoo. BTW shopping for games in nyc is expensive and sort of non-productive. If you had to, check out multimedia 1.0, but they are bloody thieves. I tried to get an intellivision there, they showed me a mint one. went to the counter, a D- beater was in the bag. Decided to leave. They showed me a better one. Left store, guy is chasing me down the block with a marginally better one. The prices in NYC are high at import or collector shops because of all the damn out of town college students. Look for a software etc, or game crazy, they sell everything from pong to current gen, but don't expect a bargain. K
I just recently broke my moratorium on buying new games by picking up a copy of SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos for 10 bucks. I couldn't say no. Christmas deals ruuule. In fact, that's the first Xbox game I've bought in years. Since the year it was released, anyway. So few good games for the system, it makes me cry. Oh...and I guess I'll have to head into my local Kohls... I saw video games in there last I checked...a few months ago, but they were all awful...and I hate buying awful games. Your 12$ DS games and PS2 RPGs sound yummy. Generally though, I buy cheap and buy in bulk. It's a lot cheaper in the long run to buy out somebody's collection than to slowly buy them individually. Still, I don't buy games as an investment. I buy them because I like playing them... That said, I know I've purchased a lot of stuff over the years that has risen in value, so whoopee for me. Maybe if I see some mega cheap/good games, I'll start buying in bulk, but all I ever see is Acclaims last Turok game on gamecube, and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay anything over 4 bucks for that, even if it is sealed. Long story short, I buy good, cheap games whenever possible. I only pay more than insano cheap when I know that I can't find it any cheaper (imports, rarities).
Sounds like what a lot of people (myself formerly included) would do with Magic or sports cards. I can't say that I have seen too many people do it with video games.
A local food store chain had an unadvertised deal on half off on games, had some good games, like shenmue 2, and morrowind, but then again they also had aquaman
they could discount it to 25 cents and i wouldn't buy it, well unless i knew someone who i hated, then i would give it to them... ha ha ha
I also buy in bulk, I'll buy up big lots on ebay, often that are listed in the wrong category or misspelled. Then I'll keep what I want, and sell off the rest individually. I got one lot with a Saturn, SNES, N64, Game Gear, Sega CD Ver. 2, Genesis Ver. 2, Jaguar, and a Dreamcast, with about 100 odd games total, for about $65 shipped on ebay, just listed as "games. misc box" under "consumer electronics".
