I know this is getting off topic in a way, but I was thinking about this today. I've been playing Fable II and have had trouble with a couple side quests. They don't seem to start correctly or I don't get an item correctly. Once, a key character got stuck in a tree and I was unable to finish the quest, causing me to reload and repeat the entire thing. I don't have the xbox hooked to the internet so I don't know if there are any updates... but I'd only assume there's at least one - otherwise this game is not finishable, for me.
I love Fable II (way more than III but not nearly as much as I), but it's a bug ridden mess. There is an update (even if you have the GotY/Platinum Hits version) that I believe fixes a lot of the random bugs, but I think it only takes effect on new saves that weren't already glitched. For example, after I updated I remember a particular glitch that wasn't fixed on my original save, but never happened on newer profiles made afterwards.
If this is true... well, shit. Also, is III bad? It's pretty cheap now (10 bucks or so? though in comparison to II at 2.99...) and figured I would pick it up next.
I would say Fable III is worth $10. It's less of an RPG and more of an Action Adventure, which pissed off a lot of long time fans such as myself. It was far more streamlined than I and II, which is downright pathetic considering the first two were already pitifully easy casual RPGs. I'm not going to get into specifics but the game did a lot of things wrong, and the few things it attempted to do right fell short due to a clearly rushed development. But if you don't have an internet connection for your 360, watch out for game breaking glitches that appear at random. The game is quite possibly even more buggy than II. Oh, and if you decide to be evil, be prepared to fart on a lot of faces.
No way could I ever be evil. I'm a lover, not a fighter! I need to save a few extra dollars on the side and grab a wifi adapter on the cheap (well, they're never cheap...). 'Been spoiled for so long with the PS3's wifi and I'm not really wanting to string a long-ass cable across the apartment from my router to the 360. Though I guess it would work in a pinch... at least to check for updates whenever I get a new game.
