unfortuatly the minidvd compatibility is going to leed to much piracy... but it also offers an easy way of booting those nifty N64 emu's :prayer:

:-( Because stealing N64 games isn't piracy.... :angry

  3. If any of you frequent Suprnova, you may have seen a torrent for Gamecubehacked.avi

Lasts about 4 mins. Guy pulls freshly burnt DVD out of player, plops it on GC with lid removed, and up pops Rogue Leader. No proof though. No close ups of the GC that's running the disk, and most of the time is spent with matey 'playing' Starwars one handed.

Hmmmm. Oh well, we'll find out in a week or so.

I'm doubtful that this the REAL information will surface. Gamecube has been fully RE'd for probably a year now, and many people have already made "modchips." So far none have been released and it wouldn't surprise me if every last one of those "omfg gc dvd iso.avi" movies is faked. I recall watching some "group" burn a cracker and load it into their Gamecube a year or two back ;)

It appears to me that people with "good" GC solutions just haven't been shared yet. I know that there was some American guy who apparently made some sort of modchip earlier this year, I know he actually did it too but don't see anything about it.

I think there was some turningpoint over the last year where things started to take a turn for the better. It seems that lately the talented individuals aren't releasing their work to as often to groups and the scene is unfolding. This entirely eliminates the lamernoobs and brings back that old fashioned idea of doing the dirty work yourself or for your "tribe."

To be honest, all that stuff on the torrent sites = BS

We have been intouch with the guys actually making the chips, and there finished with their first batch of chips, as of the other night they were doing the programmers!

As for the BIOS, we are actually expecting to see something TODAY,well later tonight rather, before the chip is released, so it will give those people who thought it wasnt really true something to stick in their pipe and smoke :)

If it all works out, we should actually be getting a few in this week (HOPEFULLY), and we will be the first ones to test!

Hope that cleared some stuffs up!

That is sort of high. 4 wires = smooth. People with dirty intentions should hold off until a BIOS that can do you know what is released.

True, that i hear should be out soon!

However, my brother has a GC, (and hes rough with it) anywho all his disks are pretty beat up..and sometimes there a PAIN to boot!

For all the PS2 stuff I got, i make a copy of it, put the original away.. if my copy dies out, i can pull the original out, copy it again and use it. Though 90% of the people out there are looking for the modchip to do BAD things with it, I do think it would help the other 10% (US!) with keeping things in good shape!

I never understand why people copy their original game...
Sure I don't treat it like frisbees or coaster but... also the time it will consume to copy those... I treat Nights just as careful as I treat Hyper Duel.

I'm all for region free game console but not for CD-R or DVD-R backups...

wish when these companies wake up and ditch that silly region coding idea... it's dead anyway in DVD market - over here virtually all retail DVD players are region free off the shop floor...

US has problems with illegal exporting though, and if US has a problem, Japan has a problem.

Only reason I do that is for sealed games. But then I'm not copying my games per se, but downloading them. Which kind of sucks when it's an ISO+mp3 rip. Urgh.

Yeah, but if you have the original disk, in my opinion you could make or download 100 copies, as long as you use them YOURSELF, i see nothing wrong with it as you did PURCHASE the original!
