Gamecube Mod-chip

Nice! This is a grat oppurtunity for the homebrew scene. I doubt it will have the same inpact as in the DC screne, but its a start... GC in germany are down the freakin 70 €, so I might be getting one( the gba sp ist still 95€, thats messed up coompared to the GC)

I'm really hoping this gives the GC scene a kick start. Surely this is gonna make Linux easier to run. And hopefully, we'll see even a GameCubeMediaCentre to play files held on a PC/XBMC in another room.

But i'm also interested to see what home coders can do. There's been some quite ambitious (i.e. - not Pong) Xbox homebrew projects like Project Jihad, and I'd like to see what ppl can do with that tiny ikkle box-o-tricks.

As for having one tiny little box that can play/emulate every Nintendo game ever... :smt023

I've found a site taking pre-orders for 60Euros. I reckon I'm gonna wait a while, see what ppl actually manage. The Cobra BIOS sounds very good.

I'm sure we'll see some of the feature from Xbox chips making it into the inevitable Viper mk2 or other GC chips. An LCD screen would be cool...

 

Well, MY Viper GC will be here tomorrow (say about 18hrs from this post) ALL saying fedex dont screw up and not deliver it

So Ill tell you how it all goes!

No, but I will have it tomorrow, if not a little later tonight

Umm..yes it is!

Apparently the BIOS-> Coder is working on adding more security to it, he doesnt want it to just get dumped and run via PSO, we are hearing within 12 hrs now..but you never know!

The chips-> We are waiting on fedex to bring the package, and everyone knows how fedex brings everything on time

 

Well BIOS has been released, and does work (has a few probs with audio with a few games)

My chip - coming tomorrow AM (FINALLY) so i can test!

 

I have heard the Cobra BIOS boot's DVD-R backups. Anyone else heard anything?

 

Everyones heard that but I haven't seen any confirmations yet ;( We'll have to hear it from CJPC!

 

It does!!! I have spoken with many people, including some modchip distrobuters, and it works great!! Boots DVD-R backups!!

 

Time to get a GC. I hope they release a BIOS with an invisible mode.

 

So what can this GC chip do that a similarly priced Xbox mod chip can't?

 

Nothing but it's far more complex than a Xbox mod.
