I was able to run it on a XENO GC modded gamecube out of the bat... But for the Wii I had a nasty blue screen and a hangup. Replacing the files I mentioned earlier on it's flash did the trick. The Wii has a old Wiikey with fw 1.9s
you just have to change the header to make it work, ie use "GFZE01" as the first bytes. MIOS uses a lame blacklist ...
*sigh* oh well.... So how easy is installing a mod chip (im a total n00b at soldering!) Are there any solderless chips? Im thinking about a viper extream usb as its only 4 wires.... but a solderless solution would be best for me.
xenogc is kinda a bitch if you are a noob such small soldering points, solderless solutions DONT work in a long time scenario and the contacts never stay connected! i reccomend a viper, but if you want a xenogc is a dvd drive chip and really cheap around $20 so it depends on how good you are at soldering and the features you want, xeno has no upgradable bios and stuff like that! p.s solderless are good in theory and during development but are not the best in the end
no i meant for the wii gahh i dont think there is any for the cube sorry for that misunderstanding... yeah only solderless for xbox,ps2 and wii none for cube at least i never came in contact one when i used to sell....
I've used a Qoob chip for years now and it's never failed me. Not a very hard install either - only took about thirty minutes or so for me to do, and I'm no professional by any means.
yeah qoob i found good to install also but for someone who never used a soldering iron to install a chip its kinda not recommended to use a chip so small in size. but the good thing is since its a drive chip if u fuck up it can be desoldered and the system will work like normal.
hmm, ill look into the qoob then, with gamecubes at $30 (USD) now, how much could a new drive be! Thanks for the info guys!
beware though if you mess up a qoob install you do risk the mess up of your cube! but then they are only $30 so go for it let us know how it goes! plus post pics i wanna see!
The modding wont be for a wile as all my money was spent preordering a DSi, so next time i get some cash, a qoob will be on my mind  (time to start looking in between the couch cushions! I need a job....:crying

Yeah I think he really means that if you change the ISO header MIOS will allow it to run. In my case I have system menu 3.2u with Starfall update block installed so downgrading MIOS/BC is interesting as it won't be overwritten and it allows use of blacklisted discs without requiire me to edit/redo burning. For your case, if you don't want to mess around with the Wii flash, I bet changing the header is the way to go.
yes you are right! the only drivechip i know of for the cube is xeno! which means there is less of a chance of breaking your cube! this meaning is used more the the nintendo wii (less popular on the cube!) it bypasses the normal drive boot methods and sends its own code to the dvd drive allowing you to playy burned games! if your burning stuff for gamecube like games, homebrew, dev stuff make sure the iso is at a special size! a search on google should point some leads! btw were are you buying from? i havent dealt with chips for awhile as the cube is dead... a place in my hometown sells the xeno if your intrested $20 plus shipping http://www.modchipcentral.com/store/xeno-gc.html i used to buy r4's from this guy his "store" is a furnature shop LOL he is trustworthy well from what i dealt with... hope that helps!
hmmm, I've been reading some good things about the Viper gc extreme. It only has 4 wires to solder!! But, what would be easiest?
