Haha there were far better games on the market, I guess Smackdown! was for PlayStation players whereas I was solely Dreamcast and Saturn back then!
Yeah it was, but I didn't enjoy it because I'm not a fan of wrestling. xD Have you ever played or seen a Dreamcast game about Berserk? It's said it was awesome, but unluckily I've never had the opportunity to try it. (Little offtopic question)
Sword of the Berserk : Gut's Rage? I've played that, graphical powerhouse for it's day, that one! I think that was actually made by the team who made Smackdown! Wasn't it?
Yes that was the title! Couldn't remember anymore... Oh God this time you got me unprepared, it may be but I really don't know. xD Anyway I think that before or then I'll buy it, looking forward to having it in my hands!
I never go to try Bio Freaks, but it's now on my list, from what i found there's a dump of the unreleased arcade version playable on mame
Yep, may even be 4 times now, as i rememer a similar thread a few years ago, lol. With that said, my answer is still the same..... Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link. The "black sheep" of the Zelda series, and hated by most. Still to this day one of my 3 favorite games of all time. Just go for the n64 version.... either emulator or real cart. I see biofreaks in local used game stores regularly for $5 or less
-Super Mario Sunshine: granted, this one seems to have gained a little more popularity in recent years, but I still maintain this as my favorite 3D Mario. I thought that FLUDD added to the game and didn't just feel like a cheap gimmick. -Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin: I think this one gets shit on a bit too much. Granted, Charlotte is fairly useless as a partner, and the fact that the last four worlds were cheap edits of the first four worlds is pretty bullshit, but I still thought it was pretty fun. Additionally, I found the plot of PoR to be less retarded than Dawn of Sorrow's. -King of Fighters 2001: OK, the soundtrack fucking blows. But I still like the artstyle, plus the (for the time) massive roster of 40+ fighters, not to mention how challenging it was (Igniz is a fucking tool). Plus, the ability to choose how many fighters and strikers you bring into battle was pretty cool.
seems a little more expensive in pal land i've never seen it out in le wild, ps1 version is cheaper and i dont have a N64 anymore which is why i was thinking mame. but now i want a N64 again lol so who knows.
Well clearly you're a new member. It says Sep. 2013 and 12 posts underneath your picture there...BUT people seem to take any reason to flame people anymore. Just use search for the entire site next time and look for topics that appear similar to yours. Of course it's completely possible to repeat a topic even if you do search. We all know that, but if you keep flubbing up, people will be less and less nice. Unlike some people, I like getting flamed, gives me something to do while at work
Ok thanks for your advice. I'm a complete noob in this kind of things and must still learn how to move in a forum.
I wasnt intending to flame the guy, i hope it didnt seem that way . I personally find it to be my favorite Zelda, i wish they would revisit that style, maybe for a 2/3ds game or a wiiware game. I guess when it comes down to it, Zelda: OOT feels kinda like a 3d version of zelda 2, it borrows more elements from zelda 2 than it does from any other zelda, imo.
I think the search function is a little broken on here. If the topic was made past a certain date, it never shows up for me. I have to try and remember what the thread was called, or some keywords that were used often, then google it and hope it comes up. But I do recall this topic coming up very often. That, and the opposite - "Games you hate that others love." My personal favorite non-SotN metroidvania styled Castlevania game. The game had a bitchin' soundtrack as well even by Castlevania standards. I've... never heard that comparison before. Usually when discussing OoT it always gets compared to ALttP. Zelda 2 is a great game. I always loved it as a kid, never understood the constant hate it used to get online. I'd love to play a new 2D Zelda game styled like Zelda 2.
The awful Spec Ops series (no not the PC one which is only average). It was buggy as hell, with dumb partner AI, ridiculous field of view (the enemy started shooting you before you could see him, even with a sniper rifle), among other stuff which plague this budget title. I had much fun with it though, when I craved for tactical shooters.
The only reliable way to search is with the "site:assemblergames.com" parameter on Google. I played Zelda 2 as a kid before I ever played 1, and don't understand the hate for it either. Is it just because it's the only sidescroller Zelda game? (The CD-i Zeldas don't count, they're abominations, not games) What? Who the hell hates Grim Fandango?
Nobody really hates Hybrid Heaven, or at least the hate is not as vocal, but it usually gets brushed off as a mediocre failed experiment. I couldn't disagree more. The story was so stereotypical and lame, it gave me sort of a campy b-movie vibe despite trying to appear like a Hollywood action movie. I liked it. The game itself, ironically like it's name, could best be described as a hybrid of Metal Gear Solid, Tomb Raider, and a turn based JRPG. It was a really ambitious and unique game, I've still yet to find a game quite like it. I loved how the main characters fighting stance would naturally change depending on how you personally fight. I didn't realize this until my second play through when I decided to use mostly punches rather than kicks and grapples, and his fighting stance changed to look more like a boxer. The graphics are actually really good. With the high res mode enabled, I dare say the game could pass for an early PS2 game, except the frame rate is atrocious. The music is also underrated. Great game. Wish they made a sequel and just tweaked a few things here and there. Pretty much. Most of the complaints leveled at the game are because of how different it is from the other games. It was only the second game in the series though, so there was no Zelda standard for Nintendo to follow. Why is it Mega Man can release six games in a row on the same system with minor improvements in each installment, but when Zelda tried to be ambitious with only its second game (and succeeded as far as I'm concerned) it gets shit on by the internet? I could understand if the game was ass, but it really wasn't. If they expanded on the formula a bit, a new Zelda game styled after 2 would make for a great Metroidvania. The only nice thing I have to say about the CD-i Zelda games is that the music is surprisingly catchy. Doesn't sound like Zelda music, but on it's own it's not bad.
