I'd go with repros of Pokemon games, they sold so well that nobody would bat an eyelash if you had 2 or 3 copies of Red and Blue.

Yeah but a repo BGA game can be easily spotted because the label is whack haha
Although gamestop employee's may not bother looking...

A story of why GameStop will not bother checking for fakes..

The assistant manager at my Local EbGames is a full on Playstation fanboy, I went in there last week to look at either a PS4 or Xbox one, he would only seem to want to sell me the PS4 and his only reasoning for why the PS4 is "Superior" (I hate when fanboys say that word) is "because the games look better".... (and even then he didn't seem like it was a big sale)...
Blerg it's a long story but I didn't end up buying either because the guy was giving off the vibe that he didn't care... If it was any other retail business where the bloddy assistant manager was too much of a fanboy to help and lost a $550 sale, shit would hit the fan :/

I have never been into a Ebgames where the employee's (and managers) wan't to help

    /Rant

Wonder if I can sell them a repro NWC 1990? RetroUSB still sells it. Take it out of the nice looking shell, hack a dead gold Zelda cart to have switch opening, install the repro board, and see if Gamestop would pay more than $50 credit. :D

The guy at the cash register would say this : Sorry, we don't have this game in our database. We can't take it.
But if the guy has any knowledge of video game history, he would buy it no matter what ( If he has enough money )

Yes, but the controller sucks. The only main selling point would be to ask if you're mainly after exclusives, if you're a multiplat gamer it wouldn't matter which system you go for.

Everytime I go to an EBStore it's a parent asking 100002720321692136841 questions about skylanders.

I'd rather they ask about Skylanders than getting their kids GTA, which they do, all the time.

Also what PS4 exclusives are there that are worth it anyway?

I wonder how "complete" each game will need to be to be available for trade in? Will carts or CD/DVD based games actually need their original boxes?

I know consoles apparently need to have :the console, power source, video cable, and one controller. Will they accept all those things separately or will they only accept them as a package? I would think a lot of the people who would want to unload this stuff at game stop wouldn't have "complete" consoles.

Will they have different payouts if you do have it complete in box or new in box? Or will they just say "We'll give you $15 for your unopened, opened, or loose SNES, as long as it has a controller and some random wires."?

From what I've read they're only going to test consoles by seeing if they turn on, not even see if they output video! And they will probably have no way of actually testing any of the turned in games at the stores!

Like holy shit it'll be easy to sell off broken consoles as long as you can wire up the led to turn on. You wouldn't even have to make fake games that worked or had the same game on them at all. You could just print out labels of rarer games and slap them on any NFL,NBA,WWF,MP3 cartridge you have/buy! Or make CD/DVD labels and just throw them on blank discs! As long as you can make a passable fake or have an unscrupulous or inattentive Gamestop employee the world is your oyster!

That site is amazing. An RE 2 with no box they'll give you $5.50. If you have the box they'll throw in an extra $1!

You know, I bet they would throw in a swift kick in the pants for only like 50 extra cents.

It's been almost a month, and the GameStop near my neighborhood is still buying old PS2 systems and not consoles before the sixth generation.

Here an update for those who might have missed it :

    http://www.gamestop.com/collection/retro-classics

I think for a gamer stand of view it is a great service especially price wise, but for a collector not so much cause you'd never know the condition of any games. What you think.

A lot of prices are better than Ebay.
And for a lot of people Ebay is the only option.

At least you'll know what you're getting from eBay (90% of the time).
Prices are not better either from what I've seen.
