MIRAKICHI from the japanish 2ch forum just released a GB emulator for the psp, it uses the exploit in the v1.00 firmware to start the emu. http://forums.ps2dev.org/viewtopic.php?t=1648 Now I really need to buy a PSP... !!!
I don't know what makes me laugh more, the size of the meulation screen or that fact that the guys PSP is f*cked Just look at all the scratches on it. Yakumo
I tried it. Kind of cool just still a bit slow (and with out sound but as quickly as this was ported, it's probably already emulating sound and just lacks the connection to the psp sound system).
PSP homebrew is deffinately going to be one of the system's strong points. the speed of current developments is amazing.
Interesting. Reminds me of the first time I emulated a GB on a portable; I had Windows CE Velo 1 and it had a screen about the same size as a PSP emulating the orginal GB unscaled (I think the screen was half-VGA in resolution). Cool having a backlit GB back then. Anyways, I hope Sony doesn't kill the homebrew possibilities by the time the price drops so that I can afford it.
actually youd be suprised how clear the psp screen is, granted i rarely have seen one being played, still i wonder, you think that since nintendo owns the patent to portable emulation, sony or this indie developers are going to get sued soon?
You dont have to photoshop things on the psp... you can get a picture to be displayed using the picture viewer!
Its NOT Photoshoped!!! I have it running here myself... There is a new version out today that plays at full speed now... and the old version showed some curruption in Mario2 which is also now fixed... still no sound. Amazing how quickly this has appeared, and in such a good state. Shame about the screen size, but it IS the GB native res. Wont be long before its running as full Psp Screen! http://psp-news.dcemu.co.uk/gameboyemupsp.shtml
Haha there is a good piece of proof to show its emulating. Notice on the character one tile on the sprite is horizontaly flipped. I noticed this emulator has a glitch in its gfx code causing inproper flipping of tiles.
