GBC emu is running full screen now and a SNES emu is in the works.

But..the fucking stupid fools(Sony) are putting a version checker into new games forcing you to upgrade the firmware before you can play.
I wasn't expecting them to embrace homebrew but I was hoping they would at least ignore it.

    Yeah... runs lovely now..

Hope to god they sort out getting these to boot on 1.51 Bios soon.. Games forcing upgrades is evil! I'd rather keep mine at 1.00 and NOT buy games!

90% of the Homebrew stuff \ games + Emulators will be more fun than most full blown software anyway!!!

Mines stayin at 1.00 until they sort out booting on all Ver's of psps!

Snes emulator + Megadrive emulator, and i'd be a very happy man.!

Fucking typical. Don't ever expect anything for free or a helping hand or even a blind eye when it comes to Sony.

someone needs to get the firmware cracked so people can downgrade it to the 1.0 japanese firmware.

I don't get the logic behind it. You would think that the easier it is for someone to get an emulator running on it the more attractive it would be.
Or would that leave Sony open to lawsuits?

    fuck sony .

i don´t care since everybody knows when people makes a lock on the system some people will always try to break it. (the idology of the anarchy of the web)

that is why it would be cool to crack the firmware and people could downgrade and upgrade .

just like the KISS DVD Player firmware that is now opensource.(or something like that.)

It's not anti-homebrew what they're doing, though it does affect homebrew, it's anti-piracy. I was reading on a PSP forum that they almost have PSP games running from memory stick, using what they learned from the GameBoy emu. They could see the splash screens and menu, but couldn't launch the game itself. This was a few days ago, so they may have games running on a V1 BIOS PSP by now. It make sense that Sony would definately want to stop that.

Thats true, but it never seemed to me that it was close to running. They havent gotten any further, and its not huge that it boots a basic file.

I saw a vid on that and I call that far far far from running games. They're just getting the bios to read the game headers to show the info & preview. Anything can do this stuff (like memory saves). So it really accomplishes little at all.

I also dont see how they learned anything from the gbc emulator. It's all based on nem's hello world psp demo.

Maybe someone will get some kind of dual boot to work? Where you can choose which firmware to run?

You're gonna end up needing a 26 wire mod-chip or some crap like that.

    God damn unchippable PS2s....

/bitter about my failure to chip one.

If a Snes emu comes out, someone is gonna need to help me learn this stuff, since I would like to try that very badly. Are there any links to tutorials to get the PSP to do this stuff? I don't have a PSP yet, but this might be my first Homebrew attempt.
