I have seen lots of post about Dreamcast Serial SD card reader having issues with lots of games including audio skipping and texture issues. Do these issues carry over to GDemu and USB Gdrom? would love to find out from others experiences with these two new ways of running GDIs untouched.

I've not had any issues with audio skipping or textures with the USB GDROM

Yeah no issues bar the odd crash on certain games, which is now fixed & waiting for a DLink from MNEMO.

Note I'm using NTSC versions of games on a PAL system, so the PAL versions may not have issues.

    May actually test that.

I think the reason for the skipping is that the serial bus is too slow. Not an issue with the new devices that replace the gd-rom.

It'd be nice if the users could test all these new devices with Dead or Alive 2 opening, just to compare the loading times. It's probably the best "tool".

FYI: the USB solution as discussed here is a GD-ROM replacement too, it doesn't use the serial bus.

I have the GDemu board from Deunan - it has run every single game I have put on it perfectly. (no intro skips or anything) it loads games ALOT faster than when loading from a disc.

    Great device!

I really want to get my hands on both to be honest lmao... I have 2 dreamcast currently (1 with a dead laser) but I really want to purchase say 20 of these... and start hitting conventions and stuff again and host rooms for people to enjoy this awesome system... (yes people show up from all over to play dreamcast PROOF CGS had a old school room that i ran and we would have 100-300 guest show up just for that room... we kept the room but removed dreamcast... now they only have about 20-50 guest go into the old school room...)

What's the best ? this one or gdemu ?? I didn't followed the dreamcast scene from long time....

At least, there is a menu to select games on usb-gdrom, it is what miss the gdemu to be a finished product....

How to buy this device ? There is no price and no contact :-(

    Bottom line:
    1. The two are working great.
    2. I own a GD-EMU and it works perfect, no coming back to GD-ROM.
    3. All people which tried the USB one are happy too.
    4. I trust more GD-EMU because the author is one of the best DC expert on Earth, but the USB one has a better availability while you have to be on a waiting list to maybe obtain a GD-EMU.
    5. In the end, reports say that you can't go wrong with either and that you'll be happy to have bought one.

I prefer UGC, once you use it it's hard to go to an SD alternative.

Did you send me a message on YouTube?

For a console with GDEMU, it's at least £200+ (GDEMU + new console + postage & a little on top for the hassle, so that's nealy $300)
