I'm neither supporting piracy or against it - it's up to the individual, however I wanted to reply to two commentsI read here:

It's nothing like that actually. It's like saying you slip something into your backpack in a store (stealing it) then the cops conviscate your entire backpack.

This is a fucked up paragraph. Music is cheaper to buy, but just as much effort goes into its production as a video game. The difference is that these days it takes a lot more people to make a game and the investment is more. But both are as bad as each other, in terms of ignoring the creative effort and toil and strife it took to make something.

First off the RIAA was told to fuck off by the Courts.

Moving on you should look at US law sometime. I'm no expert on US law but there are SO MANY insane/stupid laws on the books that simply aren't enforced. Grab a frosty beverdge and some snackage one night and read all the laws we have on the books.

Here's a website with every stupid US law

    http://www.dumblaws.com/

for example in Providence RI it's illegal to sell toothbrushes on Sundays.

    Is it enforced? No

I make it a point to know the laws in this country even the dumbones so if I find me self in trouble I'll have a loop hole to get out of it.

Google unenforced laws. Should bring up a ton of stuff (mostly immigration and gun laws) that carry huge penalties that aren't enforced.

I have one of those dumb laws, as my signature.

Did you know that sex is illegal without a condom in the state of Nevada ?
And there are many more in USA, but I have seen a few mentally stupid Danish laws too over the years.

here is a fucking stupid one from Alabama

Putting salt on a railroad track may be punishable by death.

What the fuck, I mean who in their right mind would even do such a stupid thing, and I believe they should be some major fucking big salt crystals before they could do any damage to the rail.

Here is another one from Nevada , Sex toys are outlawed. Yeah that makes really sense, imagine your wife has bought in a neighbouring state a replica of John Holmes cock, and she uses it as a nightstick in the middle of night, when a thief comes into the house. Wam she hits him right in the head, and afterwards sodomises the living shite out of the thief. LOL

WTH? :icon_biggDo you really think if a burglar busts in she'll go for a dick? Do you go for your dick if someone breaks in? I think you put to much thought into this:clap:

If you visit this link don't you get put on the "possibly pirate" monitor list?
During wartime and other crises the military will let stuff go, but that's normally like weed and rape and mischief massacres. Are they really letting soldiers DL?

I hope that with our next president he can rectify some mistakes...
Also i'll bet that law becomes unconstitutional before it gets used against anyone. It violates the search and seizure one. Maybe we'll get an all new amendment to prevent such purchases of government.

All the money they've lost are potential sales. "Maybe if I hadn't downloaded this I would've bought it." That thinking is flawed because you can never know who would've/wouldn't. Greed is the foundation of this country, but greed turns people into bullys and I really think you need permission from the rich to succeed in your area of expertise. Oversimplified but you get the point?

The majority of what I download is never even played/heard/seen. I'm stuck in this loop between 1990 and 2002, I can't stop the cycle. Everything I get was dear to me and I just replay it over and over.

Even the best minds in the world can't please all the people all the time.

Wrong. The number of people sued by the RIAA is somewhere over 20,000.

Clearly not if you think antiquated laws regarding toothbrushes on Sundays are going to prevent you being locked up for a crime.

I can't do anything other than shake my head at such a moronic attitude. You clearly don't have any concept of what's being discussed. Stop bullshitting, it's really painful to watch.

That article is over a year old. Lawsuits have gone down since then.

Assuming you're right on that (given that you don't cite any sources, I don't know why I should believe you), I'm sure that's a great consolation to the 20,000+ who already have been sued and for whom the courts did not tell the RIAA to "fuck off".

I don't know a thing about politics and what have you and even I can tell you're talking out of your ass GoH. If you don't understand something, there's no need to go on about it to try to make a point that you're smart or something.

Give it up already, please. Don't you have your Megaman 9 project to work on?...Oh wait, let me guess... :)

And? The vast majority of the cases were settled out of court, ergo the RIAA "won". You are wrong, the courts did not reject these lawsuits, and I'm getting tired of rephrasing this same point.

(I'm also amazed you managed to misspell "extortion" given that it was written in two out of three of your URLs, not to mention the articles themselves. If you're going to pretend to be smart and educated on a topic, at least ensure your spelling of the core terminology is correct.)

no. I buy all my shit. I like collecting music just as much as games. The only things I download/pirate whatever are things that cannot be purchased. There are a lot of things that fall into that category music-wise, i.e. completly out of print stuff from small bands and labels.

I'm just saying, who fucking cares about the RIAA when barely anything you listen to even belongs to the RIAA?
