As long as perverts exist on the internet your music is safe.

Think about that for a moment and I'll have made my point

The government needs to get its priorities strait!

When faced with the options of:
    A. Save the economy
    B. Help lower gas prices (4.75 per gallon at a local station by the way)
    C. Stop 0.00000000000001% of the music pirates
That dipshit we call our president, has chosen option C. :banghead:

And absolutely none of them will have been ratified in the last few Presidency terms.

    It's coincidentally every post.

His ass is gone in 60 days anyway. Obama will roll all the bullshit he's done back asap.

Just encrypt all your shit, supreme court ruled they don't have the authority to force encrypt keys from you (unlike uk) under the 5th ammendment.

It takes time though. That shit has to go through the house. No president can just come in and undo what the last one did. Otherwise, Guantanamo would be gone on January 1st.

YOu mean when downloading, or storing? Don't they actually prove that what you have was illegal attained not by checking your HD, but by checking your download history from your ISP?

I don't use Limewire that much anyway. The last time I used it was to download the Stonecutters song from the Simpsons.

I think there was a thread here a few years ago where someone pointed out that all the commercial archive packages/standards (WinRAR, zip etc) had to leave backdoors to prevent getting into hot water with governments. I'm not sure if that's true, or where open source offerings like 7zip fit into that.

Funny you should mention that, becasue that too has happened in the United States. The Ventura County Sherrif's department is notorious for scoping out properties to seize under these kinds of "All or nothing" drug laws. Do a few googles for it, it's pretty sad (and enraging) how corrupt some of our police forces can be.

The problem with laws like this is that things that are completely legal tend to be covered by it. So, let's say you start a band and give your Mp3s away for free, and you use a service like Bittorent to do it. Someone who downloads your music could be busted under this law, even though your song is duty free.

It's also seems that laws like this tend to only be enforced when the cops are trying to nail you for other things, or put pressure on you to talk, turn in a friend, etc.

What sounds fair to me is a fine, say around $200 per song or so. It's enough that anyone caught doing it is inconvienenced enough that they may think twice, but doens't end up losing all his property.

$200 per song? For some people thats more expensive than getting all their computers confiscated...

Maybe a $500 fine for the whole thing and they make you reformat your hard drive, with possibly them allowing you to back up important data under supervision.

Either that, or they just delete the songs in question.

Seems like a lot of trouble and a waste of time and money to me though.

the interested companies are just pushing so they can set a precedent in their favour. this way they wont have to deal with costly trials after such an event -it will be open and shut and clearly made black and white for all to see and fear.

Up until somewhat recently (about 2000 or so) transporting 128-bit encrypted data either physicall or over a data line across a US border was illegal. Anyone remember 2 versions of IE4 available? If you were outside of the US, downloading the US English one from microsoft.com, you had to get the non-128bit version.

This one is sadly extreme when it comes to the transsexuals in Florida.

Men may not be seen publicly in any kind of strapless gown.

And I know quite a few TG´s in Florida, and not all has papers that they are transgendered. So it is a stupid law. And some of the rest of the stupid laws from Florida makes me curse, so I am not posting them. Since I would be offending too much in my words. But this one from Florida is at least funny.

Having sexual relations with a porcupine is illegal. How on Earth will you handle intercourse with a hedgehog anyway ? I mean isn´t that just a stupid and spiky thing to do in the first place, when it comes to ones pecker ? lol

I have finally found an old strange Danish law.

It is illegal for a woman taking a public transport if she caring a hatneedle
    which is over 15 centimetres.

Another day, another gloriously off-topic, unhinged post from WDK.
