Currywurst is part English ;-) It was the Brit Army who gave a German lass curry power for it! Spass ist verboten Du muss Arbeiten!! ARBEITEN!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRRRBBBBEEEITTTTTEN! Gutted leaving German after a year. Sad sad times.
Knackwurst und bratwurst schmeckt gut, please correct my grammar if it is wrong. But both sausages are eaten here too, they are just being called knækpølse and medisterpølse. taste great none the less.
your grammar is fine WDK...the best beer is the german beer.I think the bust came from munich, here its called Weißbier...ah..what a taste
Well some people like ale, others like lager, and some again prefers pilsner. I prefer none of it, cause I am more into spirits than beer
Though I had some really nice Belgian strong beer, I would not say that. In fact, it probably depends on the persons taste. I got it for free from my sister who hated it, I think that alone figures.
Here, let me explain German to you: Basically there is three types of German dialects: Prussian, Allemannic, and Bavarian. Prussia is everything north of the "Weißwurschtäquator" (i.e. Danube river). Prussians are really evil. They start lots of wars, have a really bad sense of humor, are very snobbish, and just generally don't know how to enjoy life. Do your best to stay away from them. Allemanic dialects are spoken in the Southwest of Germany (called BaWü) and in Switzerland. The Southwest German type (Swabian) sounds really ridiculous, while Swiss German (Schwietzerdütsch) is completely unintelligible, even to other Swiss people! Also, for some reason they put "-li" at the end of every word, so for example Tatsujin always says "PC Engine system cardli" instead of PC Engine system card. ^^ Bavarian is spoken in the Southeast of Germany (Bavaria) and in Austria and it's by far the most civilzed and awesome way to speak German. Basically, when foreigners think of awesome German stuff like beer, sausages, Oktoberfest, girls in traditional dresses, Christkindl Markets, romantic Castles, BMWs, etc, these are all Bavarian things they are thinking of. Generally Bavarians are really laid back and easy going and know how to have a good time. Austria is pretty good too, if you like fine dining, classical music, and skiing. So if you want to learn German, I recommend spending some time in Bavaria.
+1 for the recommendation. There are good reasons for doing so, but learning the language is definitely not one of them. You could try of course, but don't overestimate chances that anybody living north of the Weißwurstäquator will be able to understand you afterwards . Or, as one of my colleagues put it: Bayerisch ist keine Sprache, bayerisch ist eine Wissenschaft! ("Bavarian is no language, bavarian is a science!")
ha ha,you forget one dialect, the one from Ruhrgebiet..he he..people dont say "was" or "mir" or "weg",they say "wat","mich" and "wech":dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance::dance:
Yeah, and instead of "Wohin gehst du?" ("Where are you going?") they say "Wo gehse?" And an one word sentence is a completely legitimate answer: "POMMES!" instead of "I am going to eat some french fries."
They sell a decent selection of German beers at most supermarkets now adays in the USA. What is the hold up?
Man I would go to holland just to eat stroopwafels all day, and orange stuff, I love that color... On the other hand germany has the cool autobahn, and you can get a nice used audi for next to nothing so it's pretty much gearhead haven, 'cept for fuel prices. That and tall redhead chicks, never seen so much of them together in the same place.
