The autobahn isn't all it made out to be. Vast chunks of it is limited during the day to about 75 mph (125 kph?). Its mostly 2 lanes so inside lane is taken up by trucks (they cant overtake during the day) and the other lane is mostly slow cunts barely overtaking the truck. At night yeh there is no speed limits but cunting trucks in the outside lane hold you up. Oh and the road works... Hamburg Bremen road and beyond over 70 miles of roadworks off and on. I know people slate the UK for Potholes but there far far worse in German

 

That depends on the autobahn really. I hate the A2 (East<->West between Dortmund & Berlin) because of its massive traffic. There are also speed limits all over the place due to that.

To experience the freedom of German autobahnen, you gotta hit the less frequented ones. When I drive to a shmup meet in the north, I am on the A7 towards Hamburg and what an awesome highway that is. Rarely any speed limits and little other cars on the road (or shall I say "opponents", Lol) at least on the weekends.
It's also lacking any sharp curves or too much road work, so you can basically just keep your foot down on the gas and wait to arrive.

"Gern,e" is an adjective that cannot be used with "finden (to find)".

Ich höre gerne Kraftwerk.
I like to listen to Kraftwerk.

If you don't like Kraftwerk "gerne" and want to express that without the usage of "to listen", use some other word like "mögen".

Ich mag Kraftwerk nicht so gerne.
I don't like Kraftwerk that much.

 

Atenhouse: please do your homework before you venture into another language. Or you could perhaps ask some one to correct the sentence, cause then you could first ask how to say what you wanted to say in German for an example. And then you could use it, but hey I am just thinking as usual.

Let's continue with something that shows that German is much cooler than English.

In English it means to overcome your weaker self. Staying in bed unstead of going to work, eating a steak and sweets instead of a salad, burning money for rare consoles instead of sparing it for the summer holidays with your wife, etc. - these are all things that the innerer Schweinehund commands us.

We all know our weaker self but in Germany that weaker self is the innerer Schweinehund. It's a totally crazy monster! "Schweinehund" means "pigdog" - so there's a weird inner beast in all of us. Grrr!

 

GZ: actually the English speaking people do have an equivalent of Schwein, which is Swine.
