I have SID (version 5.11 I think) installed on my 1.6 PAL unit, solely for the purpose of getting progressive scan out of it. For this to work I have to open the tray every time though which is a bit bothersome and only causes unnecessary wear on the drive. What would be the best option to have it work without that issue? Is a modchip the only way to go?
No, who ever created/updated the softmod ( SPPV? ) forgot to set the force progressive setting before compiling NKPatcher, but did when creating the open tray runtime file :/ Look in my sig, download the "Quick Upgrade.zip" its in the "latest build v1 > other" folder, once it's installed load NKPatcher Settings then Video modes > force progressive and restart the Xbox. That's you done.
Thanks, looks like I need to get FTP to work for this as I currently can't even ping my Xbox :/ An unrelated question since I couldn't find this info anywhere, do any of the video settings in UnleashX (soften, color depth, filter level) have an effect on games?
You could burn the extras disc ISO to a DVD-R disc and do it that way. As for the setting you mentioned, they are just for the dashboard.
OK I did the NKPatcher reinstall from your disc, but it doesn't show up in the applications menu. Any thoughts?
It gets installed during the softmod process, it's installed to "E:\Applications\NKPatcher Settings\" or you can just launch it from the Applications menu in the dashboard.
Yeah it's not there for whatever reason, only the text editor is listed. I did find it with the file manager though, but selecting it just starts the disc. If there is no disc it goes back to the dashboard instead. Also when I select "Boot Softmod Menu" it says the file doesn't exist, could that be a corrupt softmod install? I think my FTP issue was from not using a crossover cable... if I get one of those, is there a way to reinstall or update the softmod via FTP? I originally wanted to do a 5.12 install anyway but couldn't do it because I didn't have an old compatible USB drive that was big enough for it.
