In fact I can think of a few groups of American-born citizens I'd rather send back in their place.

Japan is "safe" because they just don't report the crimes.

It's not China/North Korea/Saudi Arabia, etc. There are murders all the time, and they always make the news... even scandals involving NHK executives and politicians make the news.

All right, bitches, here's the scoop.

If you have any passport other than Japanese, you are getting fingerprints taken from both index fingers and a picture of your face... you will likely look like shit as all countries worth going to are so far from Japan.

Obviously can't speak for Kansai, but at Narita, there are three different sections: Non-Japanese passports, Japanese passports + Permanent Residents, Re-entry Permits. All stations have devices for the finger prints and pictures. I asked my immigration official if even PR holders have to get fingerprints, and she said yes (I'm on a spouse visa now w/ re-entry permit).

To top it all off, there are regular cops randomly stopping people in the airport and asking for the passports, taking down the numbers. I was stopped and asked for mine just before getting to the NEX platform.

So there you have it. Big brother is watching (not that he wasn't before). Don't you feel safe?

Bollocks. I feel more like a prisoner than anything else.

Thanks for the feedback, GaijinPunch !

I would assume leaving is the same. It was for me, but I left before the new procedures kicked in (I think... I left on 11/18).

Some bitch was trying to tear the guy a new one. It got old... I was ready to get home, and she made a line behind her. Cunt.
