Sorry but you're going to have to name a few. I can't recall any good retro games that were like that. I mean I know there are some brutal but good games but I don't recall any that are unplayable that are actually good games as that would seem to defeact being a good game. I know I like Bart Vs Space Mutants but it's pretty bad without cheats or save states.
That depends on your personal preferences. It doesn't have to be challenging to be a game nor a good one. It's like with JRPGS usually there are players who love to just grind grind grind, and master all the techniques and collect everything and players who like a little bit of everything in-between. Personally I pay attention to the characters, the art , music and the story +the battle system when I play an RPG. It differs from person to person with games from different generations , different genres and such. And to the argument that kids don't appreciate the technology they have been given, it's because they don't know any better. They are ignorant. You can't miss what you've never known right? That's like Me growing up playing NES not really knowing anything came before it besides the 2600. Which is false. Am I not right? Feel free to add on.
I saw this video a couple months ago. Pretty ridiculous imo. You gotta raise those kids right! I'm guessing the Battletoads video hasn't been made yet? It's probably just 5 mins of the kid crying for his mom.
Meh. I'm a 15 year old kid and I like Metroid and Contra as much as if not more than Halo, but I guess I'm an exception. For you so called "retro gamers" that hate on new games, try to put things in perspective - of course classic games are fun, have great chiptune music and pixel-art styles, but if Contra and Halo 3 were released when you were a kid, which would you like more?
My kids are going to be bought up through the generations video game wise. Playing only the best games. :3 Gonna be a fun project.
Come on... pretend that you're seven years old. One game lets you play your friends online, has next gen graphics, and is extremely popular. The other game is only really liked by retro game nerds, has aged graphics and difficult gameplay, and no online multiplayer.
The kid loved Mega Man 2 and it pretty much changed his opinion. I think this little guy is pretty open minded for an 11 year old. My brother is 13 and I'm sure he'd just laugh at me for even asking him to participate in such a project. He plays CoD4 all day. :\ EDIT: Yeah, watch the last video. GodofHardcore is gonna feel pretty stupid for making this thread.
Well I'm not 7, but just last night rather than play any Xbox 360 I played Contra instead, along with other NES games. Better yet, I did infact play it online. It was great. About the graphics, I don't care. And Contra is extremely popular. Also the game is not difficult cause I don't suck at playing video games. And a final point, seven year olds should not be playing Halo or Call of Duty for more than a reasonable amount of time, certainly not whenever they feel like it or everyday or anything like that. And they DEFINITELY should not be playing it online multiplayer. You're a failure as a parent if you let your 7 year old play Halo or Call of Duty or whatever online. The online part is because children should not be playing games on the internet when you can communicate via text or voice. I mean if you just play about any game on Xbox Live for a day you'd understand why. Segata Sanshiro, that's a nice idea you have. Not just because of the retro games but because parents should decide what they let their children play, and how much of it. But most parents don't give a shit, and that's part of why online gaming is so terrible at times.
Thanks, hopefully I'll have my own beat em up/shmup professional by the age of 10. :110: Also for their benefit too, not giving them the option to play Nascar 2000 (;~ is probably the best thing I can do as a parent.
The Biggest point is , IF you had grown up with halo 20 years ago. Your opinion would be different. It's all about a generational difference of what People grow up playing. If like WarHampster grew up playing various older generation games and has a better appreciation of the broader view of games, then it benefits him. But a lot of kids don't have parents that even know much about previous generation games. IMO the only downfall of Halo After the first game was the multiplayer. Halo 2 online was one of the worst experiences with a game i've ever had. It pretty much made my desire to play games online ever again disappear. The singleplayer has always been good though, Especially with how the universe story ties in with the Novels and comics. Speaking of online, Anyone play Metal Gear Online? Pretty much the only multiplayer game besides an MMO that I like to play online anymore. sure it has plenty of it's own issues with glitchers/lag/animation canceling and whatnot. But you get used to that after a while. I've already played for over 500 hours, why stop now lol
Lets see 1. I never was an FPS nut and uh yeah NOW Viruta Fighter 5 11 year old me would shit bricks at it. I almost shat myself when VF3 came out in arcades.
I have to agree with one of the comments said on Youtube--at least the kid is spending time playing the older games... If I were in the kid's shoes, I probably have the exact same opinion on everything...Going from 360 to Nintendo is quite a jump. Of course, many here can appreciate the older stuff because you've spent time researching past history of video games, and the technicalities of them, but he's only 11, so of course he doesn't really care about it now. Maybe when he's older, he'll research more about it, or maybe just stop caring about games and ride the pussy train.
This is really the problem... not that he likes X but not Y. All 11 year olds are fucktards...period. When my son is 11, I hate to say it, he will probably say something equally as stupid as the kid in the video. I mean look at all the shit Phantasy Star was posting 2 years ago when he was 11.
Hey, can't complain too much...I have more pubes now than you did at 13... Probably more than the Japanese guys you work with, combined.
