i recently realized that I need some time to reflect and play the older games I missed when I was younger, on all platforms, including the PC. I have been going retro for some time and I m giving a good replay to all my GC titles thanks to the Wii and good company. I have a 360, but owning a few games only, I can't say I turn it on much. That said, I m looking forward to getting some MS points to get REZ.
Capcom Impress with 29" screen FTW. Sadly i still don't put much time into my arcade. Even when I had it loaded with SF3 or Soul Calibur 2.
But heroine is actually fun though. Trisynch w/ 21-pin RGB to play any console which supports RGB or VGA, Supergun, MAME = Victoly. I would like a cab though. Not practical in this city.
Lately I've been putting a lot of hours on my 360 (trying to beat Blue Dragon on Hard Mode before Lost Odyssey hits on Wednesday). But if not for that, I'd probably do the same thing I've been doing since LAST generation... ... play my Sega Saturn.
I enjoy playing Xbox a lot but after I have finished a game, I can't come back into it. I will never play it again for some reason. Even while playing the game I have got this strange feeling of "how long will it still take to get through? I'll have finished it then, I can finally play the next game on the list" or something like this. I like 3D stuff especially FPS and arcade racing games, but theres still a major difference so Saturn/PCE/MD and even DC where games used to be an ever returning place of paradise that never changes its attractivity. I recently got an Xbox 360 and although its nice with HD and all that, I already returned to play Gate of Thunder and Super Raiden. And I have no nostalgical background at all as I'm 18yrs old and bought my PCE only 1,5years ago.
I've actually been buying/watching more HD DVD movies over the last 5 months than playing my 360. Don't know if it's just a sign of me getting older and moving on or just a minor "break" from gaming.
I play PS1 / PS2 a lot (when i have free time). But curiously, i have been buying more used PS1 games than PS2. I don't know if it's because of the good memories of that 32 bit revolution times, or because lack of interest on today's games. You know what i played the whole Saturday? Wipeout, Air Combat, Descent, Ridge Racer, Tekken,... Ok, ok, i played some GT as well. I sincerely miss the old games fun factor. I mean, stuff like Rescue Mission and Alex Kidd, beat'em ups like Final Fight and Streets of Rage, till stuff like Daytona USA. Simple and great fun. As much as i like FPS, the market is flooded with games of this type. If i had a PS3 now, would be only for GTHD, GT5P and probably a couple other games. Same thing for X360. Plus, i'm gonna get a 40' LCD Full HD soon, probably with a DVD Player with upscale function (for both the DVDs and the Satellite TV setup), so my money won't go for a new console in the next 6 months, except if i find a great deal.
Personally, I am in sort of a "crunch" time, playing old games on the GCN/PS2/Xbox before the next generation goes into full force. As for new consoles, I have not played too many new titles lately (Might pick up CoD4 and DMC4 at some point, though). In general, gaming is very expensive these days. I used to be able to buy $50 games with no major issues, but it has become harder with the $65 price tag (After tax).
Word. I still buy and play consolse stuff, but I've been getting more and more into arcade stuff. I built myself a Supergun a few years ago, and have been building up a PCB collection. I bought and repaired a Burgertime machine...and right now...I'm working on turning a crappy, SUPER UGLY home built (by an op), cocktail game into a mame cabinet. It's vertically oriented and only had 2 buttons, so I'm going to use a real low end PC and only play vertical, cocktail friendly, games. Arcade stuff is funtasic as it allows you to tinker a whole lot more.
I've never been in to PC gaming. I don't like FPS that much since they give me motion sickness but that could be because I always playt hem on massive screens. Anyway, these days I play my Wii a lot, recently One Chanbara Revolution and soon that Jaleco Truck game. Apart from the Wii I'm having a fantastic time going through the entire A to Z of my Saturn collection (now up to G after 4 months !) as well as stuff I buy for it through the weeks. Any other free time I have is taken up by the Super Famicom although I only play one game on that at a time until I complete it. Two nights ago I started Kikikaikai 2 (Pocky & Rocky 2 if you prefear the wanky US title) but I'm only up to level 4. It's one hell of a solid shooter. Once that's done I'll be starting Goemon 3. Yakumo
Good Ole' Ganbare Goemon! He got plenty of releases back in Japan, but a few in the West. I actually liked the two N64 titles as well =D (especially considering the draught of similar games when the first n64 title was released)
I've always be into PC games just as much as console games but now i'm begining to get more into console hardware and finding that when i get a new console i tend to only buy a few top quality games and thats it and i'll maybe play them 1 or 2 times every couple of weeks. where as with PC gaming i'll go buy any game and can sit and play them for hours and i'll even play online. I also find that i mod my PC games more so i can get more enjoyment from them. I do still love console gaming but mainly tend to use my PC (when its working) for long stints of game palying.
The only PC games I've ever played are pretty much just Blizzard games. We've had nothing but Macs in my house for as long as I can remember... Right now, all I play is 360. I'm on a quest to get to lvl 50 in Halo 3. I also get free rentals from Blockbuster so I've been playing all the hottest new releases. I don't have a tv right now for my other consoles or I'd be playing my Dreamcast.
You are not playing the right games is all I can say. I built a PC and basically played maybe five games, got bored and got a 360. Then a Wii. Since 2006 I've burned through about 30 360 games and at least 5 for Wii. However, right now I just got some stuff for my PC like Dreamfall and Quake 4. How is Scratches?
Yeah me: most of my consoles are in position like if my room was a VG museum. Everytime I feel like playing is like I just dont give a damn, and wont waste even 5min connecting everything to my tv. Even if I do then I play the game for an hour tops, then I turn the thing off and feel bad for what I could've done in that time. Then theres the nextgen: I can either buy a console that I know its going to crash and burn sooner or later (X360) one that costs an arm and a leg, barely has any games and needs a new Tv to boot (PS3) and one that I already have but oh snap! has this new controller with innovashun and higher MSRP than when I bought it 6 friggin years ago (guess which one...). Then PC gaming, I dont know what to think. For once I feel a higher motivation to build a new rig whenever its necessary to do so (every 1 and a half years or 2 tops) than to get a console, even when its more expensive to do so (if I want the highend, which I do) and even then, theres only a handful of PC games I'm really interested in. Overall I'll say I'm console-depressed, mostly becos the last generation was, after the death of the Dreamcast, a dissapointment, and not since the 16bit I've feel real passion for gaming like I did back in those days. Thats all I've to say...
