Yeah, were else are they going to get some Ouzo? Can't let the Ottomans get it! they already have all the good couchs! Everyone is a banker kid, the moment they get some money of their own all that solidarity crap they were talking about goes down the toilet, and they go to great lenghts to find the best way to put their money to work. And those are the smart ones: idiots go and waste that same money in expensive and rapidilly deprecating stuff they dont need.
I am so happy you have offended thousands of years of history, philosophy and a few other modern sciences by offending the place they were incepted. So it was the Ouzo that did all that and the Turks who preserved it, enslaving our nation for 400 years. This is in the past of course but I don't see how you find this appropriate to mention. Think making fun of the holocaust on a public forum. Not good for any banker, dearest.
Way to take a joke out of proportion, considering that ottoman furniture isn't turkish at all, it isnt even from the orient, its british! get it? You realize how much of a cliché you are by pulling the history card man? you guys went down after the peloponnesian war. Everyone got fucked by the ottomans, even the arabs, so sorry if I dont feel moved by that, specially considering it was the armenians the ones that almost got exterminated. In any case greece gained independence in 1830, the ottoman empire went bust after WWI and besides the axis invasion (which again happened to almost EVERYBODY and you guys didnt get the worst part) everything else was pretty much greek mismanagement in the form of coups d'état and masive corruption. Where is the whole "culture and history" in the current state of affairs? the situation we're seeing now in greece is the same we see in those backwards banana republics in the middle of nowhere, except you guys are still getting money, money that will probably go to buy expensive useless shit, again. That, in a country where the only communist party in the world that still believes the genocidal stalin is "the Great Leader" got 8% of the votes during the last election, and will probably get more next time...
Individuals who invest there money wisely are fine and good for the economy. Hedgefunds speculators and investment bank derivative merchants attack civilized society and try to scalp the nations of the world. The only reason why Greece is in trouble is because hedgefunds are shorting their bond market. It's a literal economic attack on their market. It has nothing to do with how many naps a day a greek person takes or how they like to take long walks on their lunch break. Most of these hedgefunds are from the US.
Greece's economy is where it is because the country spends more than it makes. It also has a huge problem with tax evasion and fraud, not to mention systemic corruption. You can't live on credit forever. Eventually the bill comes due. That's where Greece is right now. -hl718
Corruption has more to do than that: look that US, see how bad is doing compared to the 90s? but those vultures you name where there too. Lack of regulation: even the BP disaster can be explained by it, and the greek case is a combination of that, from the euro side, and massive systematic corruption from the greek government and the people who voted them. Exactly
The problem with the EU is that some countries aren't as well fairing as others, but the people there still try to live the same lifestyle as the more well fairing people. Also the mentality of some of the people in the southern part of Europe is completely different to those of the northern countries. I'm not saying the people over there are lazy, but other European countries tend to look at them as lazy. Greece is spending money they would be having if they were Germany. The problem is they aren't. Edit: And Portugal is exactly the same story.
I don't know about other countries, but WE are lazy. We have always been, working is seen as a bad thing even now. We weren't socially neither socially prepared for entering the EEC, neither 15 years ago nor now.
