I have the XRGB yes, and already have the Euro scart adapter. Wow, i wonder if there is any signal degradation or lag when using both screens at once? If not i am pretty psyched about this.

Just need to figure out how to get the VGA ouput into the XRGB. There has gotta be a way.

Maybe we could get Retro_console_accessories to make some. I messaged and asked her about it before I built my own, but she never responded. Maybe if we had some people that all wanted one she'd do a run. I'd definitely replace mine with a better one in a heartbeat if I could :D

You can see mine on my GroovyCube tutorial btw. I ended up hacking up an extra scart cable I had and added a VGA connector. This one is a little different though than a straight passthrough since it has to combine horizontal and vertical sync signals from the computer into Composite sync (which is what makes me wonder if it works with the gscartsw..)

Does the VGA output, output the same quality as the SCART output? Because i think VGA to component adapters are far more common and i can just run the Male scart to scart to the XRGB mini, and then run the VGA to the CRT via a component adapter.

Like this one. If this cable works, then that it the easiest solution i think. That cable from the Gscart to CRT, then use the Retro console accessories Male to Male Pro Axial Scart cable from the Gscart to the XRGB mini to my HDTV via HDMI. Yikes that is a lot of wires lol.

Sound will be the only issue out of the VGA port, but with the 3.5 mm jack i can just plug in some PC speakers. If all of this works cohesively without adding any lag or causing picture degradation, i might just die of a heart attack. This is the perfect setup.

No, that cable is for a device outputting Component out of a VGA connector. The gscartsw is outputting 15 khz RGB out of VGA connector. You can't go from RGB to Component without also converting the colorspace (ie. not just different connectors)

Hmm i am not sure if that cable exists then.

I was thinking about getting SCART cables for all my consoles, and having RCA audio break out separately from the console ends (like from the Multi-Out connector) for the purpose of getting better audio. Does anyone see any flaw in this plan? For consoles that use optical audio I would of course be using that. I would assume that having RCA breakout audio would be better than having all the audio going through SCART into the gscart and having it going to my audio receiver/amplifier from the 3.5mm output (splitting out to stereo RCA).

gscartsw just forwards the signal, I don't see how it's related to what you've posted.

Two outputs are equivalent. There is video amplifier on board and the signal is strong enough to be split to two outputs.

Update: I've already shipped a lot of units, rest will be shipped soon everything is tested and works fine.

Awesome! That is great news. Any ideas on what i could use to hook up to both my CRT and HDTV? The Scart output will go to my XRGB mini, but i am trying to figure out how to get the VGA output into my CRT?

Thanks as always brother, i appreciate the advice. Can't wait to get mine, it is becoming more appealing by the day at this point.

You will need some kind of RGB to YUV converter (component), as somebody advised you. There are some converters available although I don't own any. I know some gscartsw users convert RGB to component using some adapters and it works well.

Yeah, i seen the converter he posted above which would work great for converting the scart signal to component. But i was wondering if i needed something different for converting the VGA output since it is a different output connector.

I seen a lot of VGA-component wires and such, but someone above mentioned it isn't the same thing, because the VGA on the Gscart isn't really VGA, it's RGB with a VGA connector. So the wiring is different and these VGA cables won't work.

So it's finding an RGB to component converter that can convert the RGB using the VGA output connector.

Good to know it can handle both signals though, i cannot wait to try it out.

VGA on gscartsw has two modes, one mode is real VGA with HV sync (this is what is called electrically compatible but of course frequency depends on the input source, not the switch), other one is RGBS (RGB with VGA connector)

Forgive me, i am still trying to wrap my head around all this.

So if i used the VGA in real VGA mode, what would be the best way to get that real VGA signal into my CRT? A VGA to component adapter/converter?

Also is real VGA lower quality than RGB? Just trying to learn.

    Thanks again for the advice

Real VGA implemented for VGA monitors, although very few of them support low-res modes.
In your case yes, you will need VGA to component converter.

Okay so something like this? With the Gscart in real VGA mode and A vga cable going into this converter and then component cables to the CRT?

Yeah, this may work, although I don't own such device.

I will order it from amazon and give it a go. If it doesn't work i can just return it, either way i will post here if it works.

Out of curiosity if i go this route, using real VGA from the Gscart. Will the quality and signal be just as good as if i was using Scart straight into the TV? Just curious if i am compromising by using the real VGA-component. The idea of using real VGA to transmit old 240p signals seems so weird to me.

All these different connectors and formats kind of confuse me :/ So please forgive me for all the questions.

Also is there a switch to change between real VGA and RGB VGA? Or does it just recognize it?

Hello. I'm currently waiting to receive my Gscart and have a quick question.
For my current setup, I have both a BVM and an old SD plasma monitor hooked up. The plasma has both RGB and VGA inputs. Currently, I just use the loop through on the back of the BVM to hook RGB cables directly into my plasma. Ideally, once I get my Gscart, I'd like to use the SCART output for my BVM with a BNC breakout cable and the VGA output for my plasma with an SLG3000 scan line generator in between the Gscart and the plasma. I did a little bit of research and it looks like I'll need a GBS-8200 (CGA/EGA/YUV/RGB to VGA converter) to convert the RGB signal to VGA before I feed it through the SLG3000. The only problem is that the GBS-8200 seems to need an RGBHV signal. If I were to set the sync output on the Gscart to HV sync, would that affect both the SCART and VGA outputs or just the VGA output? In other words, I need RGBs coming out of the SCART output for the BVM and, at the same time, RGBHV coming out of the VGA output for the GBS-8200 > SLG3000 > plasma. Would this be possible with just the Gscart or would I need an extra sync strike somewhere in there?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on this issue!

Yes, as I've said couple of messages back, two outputs are equivalent.

There is a physical switch to toggle between VGA connector modes.

I don't quite get why do you need GBS-8200? gscartsw can provide both RGBHV and RGBS signals through VGA connector, there is a physical switch for that.

According to the site below, you need to feed the SLG3000 a 31KHz VGA signal in order for it to work correctly. Now if I understand correctly, the gscartsw simply passes the RGB signal through in its original format, which would mean that for older systems with 15KHz output, I would need to convert the signal to 31KHz for the SLG3000 to accept it, thus the need of a GBS-8200. Unless I'm missing something.
My question is, if I were to flip the switch to RGBHV, would that affect the sync signal of the SCART output as well or just the VGA output? I'd like to have RGBS coming out the SCART output for my BVM and RGBHV coming out the VGA output for my plasma both at the same time, if that makes sense.
