Alright so i have been doing some thinking and researching.

IF i use this cable that is VGA-SCART. And i plug this from the GSCART's VGA(in RGB VGA mode) into the XRGB mini. Would this work? I am not converting the signal since the signal will be RGB just through the VGA connector. And the cable is just an adapter to rewire the VGA into SCART. So there is no transcoding or anything, i think?

This cable is not what you think it is. It's old legacy cable you use to connect your projector. It's incompatible.

    Update: more units shipped today.

Your best option is probably to see if someone can just make you the cable or make it yourself. You just need a male scart to scart cable, chop off one of the ends, then get a VGA connector and connect the 5 lines needed.

Ahh i see. Does a cable like this exist that could connect the VGA port into the SCART adapter on the XRGB mini? Whether it be VGA mode or RGB mode, whichever works? I could always make one or have one made worst case scenario.

Before i was trying to get the VGA port into my CRT via component, which seemed to complicated and nothing really worked for that, so i figured if switched the outputs and instead ran the SCART output through a component transcoder to my CRT. Then getting the VGA output on the gscart into the SCART input on the XRGB mini might be an easier way to do it?

I might see if i can have one made or try and make it myself like you said. Would a regular Male to male work or should i use a pro quality one like the proaxial male to male from retro console accessories? I would think the better the cable the better the results?

Thanks again for the help, i appreciate it

Yea, better the cable, better the quality, but this isn't running sound too in the same cable so there's much less distortion to worry about (you will probably want to run sound out from the 3.5mm audio jack in a seperate cable, then combine into the scart head similar to the Genesis cables). You should try talking to retro_console_accessories and see if she'll make a custom one for you. I hear some people have luck getting her to respond to custom requests. Also maybe check with retrogamingcables.co.uk, someone said they do custom cables as well. Let us know if you have any luck!

Thanks. I am gonna send a request to retro console accessories. So i just ask her to take a Male to Male SCART cable and attach a VGA to one of the ends? Do i have to tell her anything special about wiring the VGA like real VGA or RGB VGA?

Also good call on the sound. I was gonna plug in PC speakers out of the 3.5 on the gscart, but that won't work for capturing footage because the sound would need to go into my XRGB mini and then into the Elgato.

If i just plugged in PC speakers to the 3.5 port the sound wouldn't be sent through the XRGB mini or the elgato so my videos would have no sound. Didn't think of that.

SO i definitely will need a genesis style cable that will plug in through the VGA AND 3.5 sound and on the other side just a male scart.

    PHew........so much to think about.

You'll have to confirm with superg but I think you just need the horizontal sync pin of VGA port (pin 13) to go to sync pin of scart cable (pin 20, I think), and of course Red, green, blue and grounds are all obvious. Also, see what I said above about the audio, I editted it afterwards.

    Thank so much dude, seriously.

I sent her the request. I asked for a Male to Male proaxial scart, but with a VGA male connector wired as RGB on one side with a 3.5mm wire as well.

As for the wiring and sync, i think she should know what to do, but if not i think you are right. Pin 13 is Sync on VGA and 20 is the composite sync input on the SCART.

Now i just hope she answers :/ This is the last wire to complete my setup. I think this cable could be very useful for many people. If it works as planned, people will be able to play on their CRT's while at the same time be able to record on their HDTV. Or at the very least have an easy way to connect all your systems to both types of TV's(CRT and HDTV) for variety.

    You are correct.

I've just got a PayPal claim opened on a unit sold in June 11 (he probably got it in August) that switch arrived damaged (plexiglass). There was no any communication from the guy before and it's the end of November now and I won't be able to get any refund from USPS as it's a way too late...

Wow, just like that he is able to dispute the claim and get his money back? That is horrible :(

That is bullshit dude. I have been buying/selling on ebay and paypal for like 12 years now and they basically have made it so you can scam sellers without any repercussions. So horrible man, i hope you can figure it out. I would contact paypal and tell them you would have had no problem filing a USPS claim but because they waited so long now your insurance is void and you are gonna be stuck eating the money. You don't wait 2 months to open a claim that the item arrived damaged.

This is someone with cold feet or someone who is just trying to scam you. I know paypals warranty is 180 days, which is ludicrous, but i would hope they have common sense to know filing an "arrived damaged" claim 2 months after arrival is absolutely ludicrous.

Same, i would think to complete the claim they would have to.

I just got mine in the mail, it got here safe and it looks so nice. I can't use it until my Male to Male scart cable comes in though :(

The shinybow Scart-Component transcoder doesn't ship until monday as well, so i probably won't have this thing running until sometime late next week on both the HDTV and CRT.

Then just gotta wait for retro console accessories to get back to me with hopefully an answer of whether she can build the cable or not. Then i could have everything all hooked up and not have to touch a darn thing when i want to play anything on either TV or record.

I just sent a message, so i guess we will see.

I sent two messages to retro console accessories, one was a generic troubleshoot email of ideas of how to connect both outputs on the gscart, and a second of a legit cable request with way more details. She responded to the first email saying she had no experience with the Gscart so she couldn't be sure, but unfortunately has not yet responded to the second email asking for the custom cable.

Hopefully she will answer tonight. I got the email late last night, so maybe she checks emails later in the day.

I gave her the best description i could of what i needed

They guy who created the claim disappeared, he doesn't respond at all and haven't provided any photos or explanations. Will wait and see.

Update: I've just finished assembling all the switches. They are currently being packed. I'm looking forward to finish shipments this week. In best case everything will be dropped off tomorrow.

For those interested, Retro Console Accessories is going to make me the VGA+3.5mm-SCART cable. I will let you guys know how it comes out and whether or not it works as intended. She has all the details, so i don't foresee any issues, but you never know!

This might be useful for whoever wants to output simultaneously using the Gscarts VGA output.

I was going to ask if she could do something similar with the Analogue NT mini. It has a VGA out that handals all the analogue outputs, but I can't find a VGA to SCART plug. Was waiting to ask until I had the unit. I did email Analogue asking them if they knew of one and they said that there was a cable for that on the Monoprice website but I don't see it.

More specifically, it'd be best if it is VGA+Audio to SCART.
