Ha yeah I can understand your sentiment quite well. I was just a bit thrown off for a second there. I've never been the biggest fan of racing simulation, but I've got to be honest and say that GT5 is making me think about the PS3 quite a bit more than I ever have.
Prologue and Warhawk were what did it for me, so I hear you on that one. For some reason Wipeout HD was one I wanted since I got the system as well, but I haven't bought it till now. I got the 360 first because of Katamari mainly as I love that game. Funny how it's now coming to the PS3. All the above games are a joy, and you'll enjoy them. There are a few that didn't tickle my fancy.. don't know your tastes of games, but Metal Gear wasn't my cup of tea. Neither was Burnout Paradise, Grid or LBP. LBP is alright.. just had that hallow feeling to it that reminds me of Forza.. just something missing. Flower is great and unappreciated though. Hope you get a PS3 some time, it's a wonderful part of my collection and a great addition to this generation.
I'm sure I'll pick one up eventually. Once I am able to walk into a store and find about a dozen games that make me giddy I'll bring one home with me right then and there. I don't know what it is with Metal Gear. For some reason I love the story, the characters and the over all style, but I have basically zero enthusiasm to finish a single one of them. Something about the gameplay just turns me off and leaves me wishing I could read through it like a book. Resident Evil has always been the same way for me. I own dozens of RE titles and I love the idea of the thing, but in practice it doesn't hold my attention for whatever reason.
I've said a lot of stupid things on these boards and then for some reason I say, 'Nascar is boring.' People get uptight and all their panties in a bunch. Just please stop putting words in my mouth. Based off what I saw at E3, Forza 3 did have more features and community content. Which is what I'm about. Tell me the ability to create and upload HD video from a game isn't cool. "...comments as of late." what are you talking about? that was my first post about GT and I didn't even say anything bad about it. A rant that included two sentences. Geez, just shut up.
This is not a rendered video. The screen shows a little horizontal tearing. This occurs when the scene is being natively rendered on hardware. Polyphony have no reason to bs this kind of thing with prologue being available.
The graphics in Forza II weren't really that impressive IMO. It almost looked like an upscaled Xbox game at times. As a game I preferred it to GT4 mainly because it didn't have those boring license tests and of course, there was online play.
amen brother in other news: Forza 2 was a respectable effort but it didn't hold a candle to prologue, despite the latter lacking features and being a very high quality, yet relatively short, game. What I did like about forza 2 was the ability to "see" stuff as they happened, although that was just fun for a while, same as the livery options. It was GT5 prologue's detailed physics in tandem with the excellent logitech wheel (the 25, sorry, 100th time I m saying this but it makes or breaks the game for me). I confess that I was not a big fan of prologue nor any GT before I got ahold of that wheel. I found the insistence on realism a sham when all you do is manipulate such accurate physics by a simle gamepad. As with real driving, gears need to be felt, it's an automatic process if you're a driver of manual cars, same goes for the clutch. The added resistance to the pedals and the 900 degrees the wheel turns also add to the immersion making GT my cars away from my car - to the point that in retrospect I trully believe I have become a better driver, having better understanding of how to better handle a car with the least compromise in speed or stability just by examining the sound of an engine, the revs, the breaking rate etc. I know many folks, if not most, are into driving games, but I differ. Treating GT5 (prologue or regular) as a game is a grave mistake, because the controller limits the experience of what can be a driving simulator - which unfortunately can only be fully experienced with the said logitech wheel, which is also compatible with the PC! I put much emphasis on this particular product because even the Driving Force GT, the official GT wheel, doesn't come close to that feel (it lacks proper H-shift gears, the clutch and any pedal resistance) although it's blessed with a friendlier price. To put things in perspective, Forza may be a great game but it won't be the simulator GT is due to the shitty XBOX 360 wireless wheel. I m not saying it's not well made, it's solid, yet it lacks the 900 degrees, offers solely serial shifting, albeit on a stick, and naturally also lacks a clutch pedal. It's a high-end wheel, but it's a gaming wheel, not suited for simulation to the extent that the G25 goes. Even compared to the driving force GT it is let down by the lack of turning degrees, despite being as good or better in materials and perhaps price, depending on where you shop. All said and done, I wish the G25 was supported on Forza 3, I really really do - or at least if they license/release an equivalent wheel. I love the graphics compared to the blander looking GT5 and it's got Lamborghini to boot. To finish this rant off, forza 3 may be the better game in my view if played with a controller (especially considering how the Dual Shock 3 blows compared to the 360 pad, triggers, sticks, grip, etc) but if we're going to talk simulation, then GT5+G25 are the closest you'll ever get to driving some of the most expensive and exotic cars in your life, guaranteed. If you love driving and you respect yourself, go out and buy GT5 only if you're going to get the G25 with it. It is the best wheel peripheral you ll come accross and as a bonus you can play all your other driving games too! (the wheel locks at lesser degrees depending on the game's wheel-range, eg in Sega Rally or Dirt, Grid etc). If a logitech representative is reading this by any chance, further to sending me a cheque for my honest opinion, they better update the damn design, it looks like it popped out of vader's Tie fighter! comparison follows: G25: Driving Force GT: Official XBOX wireless steering wheel: PS: the G25 is almost arcade quality, with more luxury. It's solid and feels real, thanks to the leather and metal, making it like a real performance car's wheel and putting the other two plastic toys to shame. It's even evident in the pictures -but as I said, the design won't win it any prizes.
it's well worth the price if you're into most driving games, PGR3/4 included of course, but it won't cut it for Forza 2/3. If they want Forza 3 to enter the league of GT5 they need a better wheel.
It looks like it isn't as good, at least I imagine, because of the knobs and little details? I'm not sure, I've hardly even drove a big boy car.
Real cars wheels turn 900 degrees. This is a must for simulators. Real manual cars most often have gears that are physically shifted. This is important when playing a simulator because you can correctly control the car by knowing where to place the gear-stick depending on the angle you approach (eg, sharp tight corner, 2nd gear for most cars) Real manual cars most often have a clutch. The ability to control the engine's torque by carefully balancing gas and clutch is a key in maintaining rev stability and hence maximum yet controllable power when overtaking or turning at high speed. Breaking is not an option at over 80Km/h when making a turn (when ESP, ABS and other assists are off, and they have to if you want to get maximum power out of your car, especially considering acceleration, thus leading to a head-start on turns) Real cars offer resistance on their pedals. This is essential in order to know how much your foot is travelling along, in order to achieve true analogue control of either break, clutch, or gas. Real cars feel real. Materials and durability certainly matter and reflect on your gaming experience. Some real cars have paddle-shifters. The G25's are large, metal and offer a spectrum in height so you can grab and shift serial gears as you please without taking your hands off the wheel or repositioning them - the other two wheels do not offer such comfort which is essential when you make last moment decisions. Of course, the G25 also offers serial gear-stick shifting, by simply pressing the stick inwards and turning a dial.

Colour me impressed. If it includes a base then 500USD is fair game, and the design seems to be rocking. Is it compatible with the PS3? If the answer is yes, I might have found my new best friend for racing games =) PS: I m a tad confused, which one's the "expensive" pedal component? Do both pictured pedal components offer resistance? I think I like the design of the first (top) one better. PS: no paddle shifters on the wheel?
