GT5 Vid. Damage shown! Every time I think they can't get any better. Finally, the video from E3 is here: http://ps3.ign.com/dor/objects/857126/gran-turismo-5/videos/granturismo5_trl_e3trailer_60209.html Looks like some damage modeling in the close up of the blue Subaru rally car.
Clearly a render... just look at the power lines, ps3 isn't capable of anti aliasing of that quality.
True, but you can also tell it's PS3 level graphics there. And again, an extremely notable change in the series.... collision detection.
Forza 3 seems to have WAY more features and community content than GT5. Personally I can't stand NASCAR, probably the most boring racing there is.
forza 2 was a letdown IMHO... the momentum lasted a short time and most of the god things from the 1st one were canned
Simulations can't show the skill in this kind of driving. Not so much the driving, but the aerodynamics. A slight wobble, or getting closer to another car can have huge effects. One can cause another to crash by just slight taps.
You guys just dont get Nascar. Its like comparing Cricket to Baseball, totally different, yet both use a stick to hit a ball.
What was the last NASCAR sim you ever played? Nascar 07' for Saturn?? Seriously, if it's GT we're talking about here, it'll be like it is in real life (IE: not easy). You have to watch everything you do in NASCAR so that you don't slip out of control. Like said above, one tap the right way and you're history. But hey, there's obviously no pleasing you with GT. It's quite obvious from your comments as of late you don't play GT. The reason why I know that is because if anyone truly thinks Forza 2 was the best racing game of this generation, and Forza 3 will be the best of this generation, they must be on something. Maybe I'm just used to more polish, but Forza to me just seemed bland as all hell.
simulations are only as good as their interface, I repeat like a broken record! IF forza comes out with a new wheel akin to the G25,or even better they allow the G25 to be used, then I m all over it, if not..well GT5 wins. There's nothing better than slamming gears where they belong, I hate serial stuff when I m doing manual transmissions!
I think I can definitely have fun playing NASCAR that has been filtered through GT5, however I still do not approve of it. Forza is a nice break when you're done playing GT for a month or so, but still doesn't compare at all.
Indianapolis and Nurburgring-Nordschleiffe in HD, TopGear test track, night / evening races, weather conditions,... I'm in! I really hate the Forza x GT fanboyism battles on message boards (they already started). I think both games are great, but in my opinion, i think that Forza lacks something... When you see the videos of both games, you can easily identify which one without even seeing the logos. Anyway, it's nice to see a good team like the Forza devs making Polyphony Digital work a lot to bring more stuff to GT5.
Yep, as stated before, Forza does lack a certain something.. makes it seem bland. But totally, thank god Forza exists. Sometimes when you have no competition you get lazy. Since Forza has come out, you can tell with 5 they're trying to take the series to a whole new level. So in that regard, I love Forza :110::dance:
if they still refuse to allow decent collisions in gran turismo, that's a major blow to the franchise. Forza 3 seems more exciting to me at this point, both games look fantastic(finally cockpit view in both!), currently I'm giving edge to F3 (have you seen flying cars? :lol.
Funny the way anyone who disagrees with you is obviously insane or a gamer of inferior experience. Perhaps *gasp* we all have different opinions on what makes a game great.
Looking forward to seeing the TopGear test track and weather and playing them if i ever get a ps3, i mean i tried the Rfactor mod of the top gear test track but that was a mod and although quite good it was not perfect so i'm excitied to see what the real developer made official version in gt5 will be like. Not played forza 2 much but to be honest when i played the original and then GT4 i just felt that GT was a better game or rather it had something which forza didn't which made me play it more. I agree with that 100% because i remember having the original PC version of the logitech force feedback wheel they eventually made to go with GT3 and when we got a ps2 and GT3 it just made the game more amazing over the controller and some other wheel we had.
It's not about that. It's about the way he shot it down. I can still have a boat load of fun at Forza, and I play it with my friends all the time. However, I still prefer GT over it. His rant was more of a fanboyish "Forza rocks, GT sucks.. ray:" that I just can't stand. Kinda like how Nintendo fanboys slam people for asking wth Nintendo is doing porting over a DS game (New Mario Bros) to Wii, and charging full price for it.... screaming that it's because they don't own a Wii so they're jealous of the game. When in reality, they are the ones who really don't own anything other than the system they worship. Not saying he doesn't own more than a 360, just again... the way he stated his opinion was less open minded like my comments previous to the one you highlighted, and more of that of someone who only buys something for the name and system brand on the label. Sorry if I got the feeling that if GT was on the 360 and Forza on the PS3, he'd be saying how much better GT is. Just the vibe I got.
