    This guide will go over:
    1. Password Reset
    2. IP Config
    3. Running a game

    Text:
    Some Tips:
    1. Use the VGA Port on the card at the bottom of the TOOL in the card expansion bay/ The VGA under a metal shield/cover (If your unit has it still screwed on)
    2. DO NOT EVER pull out the VGA on ANY old computer whilst it is running - It can short-out/zap the Video Coder - I have killed a computer back in 2003 like this - It does happen.
    3. Don't handle the unit by holding the "Mohawk" and "Front Facade." Handle the unit by holding it's rear and under side (When I reference the top of the unit, I mean as if the unit is placed vertically and the "top" is where the on/off and reset buttons are located)
    4. Be very gentle with the Memory Card slots - the plastic covers are extremely delicate (they're made from plastics - some dated back to 1999, the metal/tin rods are extremely brittle)
    5. You don't need a transformer - the TOOL supports 110V-240V at any frequency used in your houses AC
    6. If you unplug the PS/2 keyboard you may have to reboot the system for it to work again (Also off topic fact - If you punch a PS/2 Keyboard you can actually completely kill a computer - I had a friend when I played LAN parties in 2005 bash a keyboard and kill the computer like the USB killer does xD)
    7. You need a PS/2 Keyboard - USB keyboards don't work.
    8. The USB ports on the front of the TOOL are for the PS2's hardware, not the TOOLs
    9. Check to see if your Ethernet Cable is plugged in properly - (I spent a day trying to figure out why my net console wasn't working)
    10. If you have the TOOL placed horizontal make sure the TOOL Logo is facing up/visible. (So the CD/DVD drive is accessible and the HDDs are running in the recommended orientation)
    11. When selling a TOOL, be careful how you package it - make sure that you have heaps of bubble wrap (Thick Types) and use Biodegradable Packing Peanuts.
    12. DO NOT EVER TURN OFF THE UNIT VIA POWER WHILE IT IS RUNNIG (If I hear a TOOL dying that that I'll die of disappointment)
    13. If you take apart the system, use the guide on the other thread
    14. You don't need both the HDDs you only need the 1st one (The second one was supposed to be used with the DTL-T14000 CD/DVD Emulator)
    15. DO NOT change the dip-switches on the rear of the TOOL - See the SDK documentation for what they do before changing them!
    16. Make sure the dip-switches on the front of the TOOL are set to, "TOOL" and "DVD."
    17. Make sure the TOOL can breathe and is well ventilated (Some systems can get up to 100 degrees C, it doesn't really matter but still, I'd die if I hear about a TOOL dying from lack of cool air -on the owners accident-)
    18. If you have a DTL-T15000 You're lucky - Your TOOL is a Performance Analyser and can be used with the Performance Analyser Program in the 2005 SDK to show how games are using the system and developers can make their games run way more efficiently by utilising the PS2's Hardware better.

    Password Reset:
    Defaults are:
    Username/Login: root
    Password: administ

    To reset - Use:
    Username/Login: z
    Password: z
    Service ID: (Leave empty unless you wan't it for QA, then type: QA)

    Type: passwd root
    Then type: administ (or whatever you want - I'd recommend the default though)
    Now type: reboot
    When your system reboots enter the default credentials and it will login to root.

    2. Edit The IP Information:
    Type: cd /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts
    Type: vi ifcfg-eth0

    Now hold down the letter D on your keyboard until there there is nothing in the document.
    Hit the insert key.

    Now type:
    DEVICE=eth0
    ONBOOT=yes
    NETMASK=255.255.255.0
    BROADCAST=192.168.0.255
    IPADDR=192.168.x.x
    BOOTPROTO=static
    NETWORK=192.168.x.0
    DHCP_HOSTNAME=DTL
    GATEWAY=192.168.x.x

    Now hit: esc
    Hold Shift and hit the ":" key.
    Type: wq!
    Now Reboot by typing: reboot

    Run A Game In Retail:
    cd /usr/local/sce/bin/
    Type: ./dsedb -r
    The TOOL and IP information on the CRT will turn off
    Type: reset 2 100

    Have Fun Debugging!

    Nice guide, but official developers were not meant to log into the TOOL that way. I didn't ever realize that until I logged into mine (and hence contaminated it before I duplicate the disk). All development was done over the network, and managing the TOOL (including the network settings) was done over the configuration web page.

    It's probably not an issue, unless you are concerned about maintaining the unit in its original condition.

    I did forget to mention that,
    Thanks for mentioning that for those who want to keep their units authenticity.

    Also I will be making a home brew game for the PS2 as a Personal Project at my school for extra marks. It should be ready early 2018. So I’ll be around quite a bit, I’ve been messing around with development tech for a Long Time now, it’s great to join an active place where I can post and help out.
    -Thanks

    You have a weird way of removing the Tool's stand...

    I used two different screwdrivers because I placed my unit horizontally. In the next video I will show it with the stand removed completely.

    I know you did specifically mention to not unplug the VGA while the unit is running, but since that is all I've actually had, it still works. This may be old computer parts, but it still works when you switch. I have had to do it many times to play it.

    It's still not healthy, I really wouldn't recommend it. But if you absolutely HAVE TO then just be careful. xD

    I can use a tv, but I prefer to not constantly move my TOOL around to play games.

    A little bit offtop, sorry, but my burnt chair can't take it any more.
    I need to dump ROM of my old TEST DTL-H10000 unit. I'm trying to get working Master Boot disc containing uLaunch.elf on it. Any available uLe 4.38 ISO images floating around do have long EXE filename and can't be patched by Discpatcher 3.0 utilty directly.
    So, I had to built my own ISO and I did that using that chain:
    CD/DVD Gen->IML file->building ISO from iml by Apache->writing via ImgBurn.
    I used CD disc that I get that way and it recognised as Playstation disc and try to boot but won't load it and return to main menu. The second disc I've made was the same but I also used Discpatcher 3.0 to patch it but in the end I get the same result. I do have TOOL unit with half-dead DVD-Drive so I can't check it there. Also I do have few old Master Boot discs to check and they do work on TEST.
    Still don't get where I sliped on my way.
    -What is the difference between Master and Retail ISO? .CNF are the same...
    -What is the best way to build MB disc?
    P.S. There are 2 discs bellow that I've built. Hope that helps. I used 4.38 ISO as base (mostly for getting dummy file) and last 4.43a.elf.

    Thanks for the advice though, I'll try not to swap ports while it's on now.

    Can't tell or prove that it's the best way, but this is how I do :
    For CD-ROM Master Discs : author and export the image using CD/DVD-ROM Generator, convert the image to MODE 1 2048 using Ps2ImgFx, convert to MODE 2 2352 using CDMage, patch to Master Disc using Discpatcher.
    For DVD-ROM Master Disc (single layer) : author and export the image using CD/DVD-ROM Generator, merge the image files with the good old copy /b command.
    To export as image, Rec.../File/Export Image :
    [IMG]

    CD and DVD master disc images I made off your files : PS2 two Master Disc.zip
    Licensed for Japan area. Untested.

    There's a simpler way, I'm using the homebrew CDgenPS2, you can import a treefile from ISObuster for the files LBA, export a cue/bin or an iso, patch it to master with Loser's MasterDisc patcher and you're set.
    Here are a few images I made using it:
    http://lorezan.free.fr/ps2/ule442ps2dump_JP.rar
    http://lorezan.free.fr/ps2/ule442ps2dump_EU.rar
    http://lorezan.free.fr/ps2/ule442ps2dump_US.rar
    http://lorezan.free.fr/ps2/ule442dvd.rar
    I don't remember if the last one is patched as a master or not...

    Nice :) . Last time I have patched a CDgenPS2-authored disc image, I could get it to run in a DTL-H30002, but not in a DTL-H50002. So I thought that Master Disc Patcher injected a broken PS2LOGO in the .bin...
    I was wrong, since your ule442ps2dump_EU works perfectly fine. Thanks for your input.

    Strange, but they don't work either. Same results, but at least they recognised as PS2 discs at browser menu. Thanks, I'll try your guide and unclejun as well. Have to buy more CDR to burn.
    ule442ps2dump_JP work! At last, finaly I can send ROM to sp193. Thank you, unclejun, I'll try to follow your guide to get another working Master disc If it will be needed. Want to do something good to the comunity, hope I will.
