Halo 2 Multiplayer Beta Disc + Paperwork

just another multiplayerdiscfor my collection.i am glad its finally a xbox version and not just a ps2 version as always...lol

 

Is this the Xbox version or the PC version? I assume Xbox. If Xbox, does it require a debug or modded Xbox to play?

Does this disk have an Xbox hologram in the middle, as in the ones that other Xbox games do? I can't tell from the pictures. If this disk runs on unmodded retail systems and is a standard DVD rather than a DVD-X2 (typical Xbox game disk), the files on that disk would be quite valuable to me. Might be willing to buy it or a dump of it if that is the case.

 

It should run on retail units. I believe we had to hack it to run on debug kits and on Partnernet when a group of us played it online years ago. It's a pressed disk, should be standard Xbox format. They were given out for free at Microsoft so.

 

Don't waste your money on a dump - the files are out there.

 

This disk has media types 0x00000202 - it's a DVD-X2 and it won't boot from normal DVDs, which would've been nice. However, it's quite unusual: it's the first retail-signed XBE that I've seen that has the "media board" (0x200) bit set. I'd always thought that that bit was for Chihiro XBEs. Maybe the 0x200 bit had a different meaning at some point in Xbox history.

If you manage to get a game running you can see the horribly buggy bomb mode in action. Man that thing was spazzy.

Yeah, it was just the normal assault, but oh my did it have it's share of problems in the beta. The announcer would often repeat statements 3-4 times, buggy detection of when the bomb was planted, all the fun stuff.

 

didnt know that..is it possible to see it in offline mode with the hacked files?

 

Highly doubtful. The beta had rolling releases, you'd get a new disc every few weeks in the mail each new one disabling the prior. It had heavy proprietary server integration. Even if you could find a way around it, I'm not sure how much you could realistically do with it.

 

hm,i should play this build to check if i find some bugs or other strange stuff,but its so boring without any enemys

 

Could probably arrange a Halo 2 beta night on XLink Kai at some point, if it does truly work using system link like someone said.

 

the h2 got this option blocked,so you cant play via sytem link or spiltscreen..maybe someone have to hack this to enable it

 

How do you think the hacked version works? I was told it worked by hacking system link into the XBL setting area.

Not sure if system link was working as I haven't tried it in so long. Here is the patched xbe if you still need it. Not sure if you have a different build than I but give it a try.

IIRC this should also have the test map and the other weapons like the useless flamethrower. Pulled it off my external let me know how it goes.
