Yeah, I would have preferred to use some kind of rechargeable battery, I tried to use the one out of my PS3 controller but it didn't fit.

The 'b' tabs connect to the + & - of the battery pack and the other two go to your power source (such as a dc power pack/wallwart) I don't know if this pcb has a voltage regulator or not

But shouldn't there be some kind of socket on the PCB for plugging a charger into when you need to recharge the batteries?

So you just have to solder a socket onto the PCB? Then when you need to charge the batteries you just plug an AC adapter or something into it and it will charge?

Yes, these PCB's are designed to be cheap and used in many different applications. So they do't add any headers.

You just use two wires from the PCB to the battery and two going to the input [The AC} use one of these, best spot would be where the cable used to go..

Okay brilliant thanks! This would defiantly be much better. But I'm not sure if 2x rechargeable AA's would fit inside though, as I can barely fit 2x AAA's in there. Plus I don't know where the PCB would go either. But I defiantly want to try this!

Here's a small update. I finished the filler work on the controller, primed everything, installed the blue power LED on the controller and also put the blue buttons in the controller to see how they look:

I'm gong to buy some blue START, SELECT and ANALOG buttons to match the rest.

You can hardly tell that it has been plastic welded and filled:

And here is a picture of the blue LED, the ANALOG LED no longer exists, this light just indicates when the controller is turned on.

I also got the console in primer, and as you can see you wouldn't be able to tell I've used any filler:

And that's it for now. I'm almost finished with this project now, I just need to get some white and light blue paint to paint everything then im pretty much finished :)

Thanks! I forgot to mention that I also need to re-case the receiver for the controller into the case of a Sony memory card or the bit that used to be at the end of the wired controller, I'll post some progress pictures of this once I'm done.

Yeah lithium ion are good, but eneloop are cheaper and have lower self discharge. They do hold 30% less power though, it depends on how quickly you're going to be flattening the battery.

To maximise their life you should keep lithium ion charged up, while with eneloop you should let them fully discharge before charging them again.

If space is an issue they do AAA, but they have half the battery life. But it depends on how much use they will get. When I started using eneloops AA's in my wiimotes they lasted for a month.

I do really want to have rechargeable batteries, I tried to find some AAA one's but I couldn't find any online.
