I wish! We were discussing so Sega Genesis promo material earlier in the year. Although if that Katana disc comes up.....
Hmm a backwards compatible title AND its a silver. Wonder what would happen if I put this into my Xbox One. They won't ban me will they?
Even if it worked, it wouldn't be the game on the disc anyway. Backward compatible games work by downloading a recompiled version, it actually doesn't play off the disc at all. It's only used for proving you have the disc.
Probably not. But if it did, it would download the retail game. So either way, it's a complete waste of time.
There's 2 outcomes: it doesn't work. It plays retail game, not the content on the disc. I thought the point was to see what's on the disc? If you wanted to play retail gow, it's cheap enough used? The waste of time was in the context of checking the contents of the disc, which I believed was the point.
There doesn't have to be a point; have you never tried something like that just for the hell of it? Obviously we'd want to see what's on the disc too, but I personally would also be interested to see the outcome of putting it in an xboner.
See, @Bad_Ad84? Now I can sleep soundly knowing this information and not be kept up wondering about the possibility of it working.
I have a bunch of Xbox silvers. Some of them will play on a retail unit and some of them still require a test unit. So now I want to find out of this disc plays on a retail 360. If it does then that is that. If it doesn't play then I'd like to find a backwards compat title that does play on the retail 360 and then try it on a retail Xbox One. why? I dunno. These are things we just have to know.
I would imagine someone has done research on what the Xbox one looks for - I assume some combination of disc title + security sectors (at a guess). People were trying all sorts of discs when they first announced it.
Well you said yourself one of two things could happen but you didn't know which one. If people knew for sure then it would be a waste of time to try. Still I wanted to know what would happen because it was such an unlikely thing to happen that I wondered what would happen if you did.
I have nothing but free time right now. I just finished high school and in between traveling with my friends, I don't have many commitments.
I think we just have a different opinion of whether all information is useful or not. But I am not trying to cause an argument, I was originally under the impression you wanted to try it in the Xbox one to see what was on the disc, not just to see if you could use it as the "key" to the retail game. You have no idea how much I envy you. Enjoy it while it lasts!
