Hi I'm after a bit of help if anyone can identify the chip in my picture

Hello I'm new to this forum and new to the original Xbox Iv got this one in my pic and don't no anything about it the wire has come off and needs re soldering is this worth doing and will the make the chip work or is this part just for the l.e.d lights and there seems to be some switches on the front .please if you could help thanks

That is part of an xecuter 3 modchip. Its missing its cover though, your not supposed to be able to see the board like that, its also damaged. Is that hanging off an Xbox? If so you might be lucky and have a very nice modchip inside it! Its the black board to the side of the chip.

 

It's not hanging off it but one of the parts with 5 wires on it is hanging off could I get it resolderd I'm a bit scared to turn it on because of the wire what shod I do.thanks very much for ur help il take a nother pic so you can see it clearer.shod I open the box up

No, the chip is very likely in there. Unhook both those wires and try booting. If the chip is setup properly it should default to its 1mb flash bank and start up fine. If you have a controller while its bottling hold the white button and tell me what it does.

 

Iv got the wires but no controller I diddnt think this would work but il grab a controller Tomero.i think it had stuff on the harddrive like snes games and that how would I get on to them thanks for this mate

You could get the connector resoldered no problem.

Buzzing? Never had that kind of issue, did it restart on its own a couple times or just sit there buzzing?

 

Diddnt boot or nuffink just buzzed from where the power goes in.might there be something lose in side.i don't have a star headed screw driver the right size only a smaller one

 

Sounds like its power supply is messed up too. Don't leave it plugged in you might have a fire hazard.

 

Moved the wire at the back and it all lit up blue in side can't find a way to make it stay on

 

The power supply has a broken solder joint at the plug then, very dangerous. If the inside lit blue then the chip is in there and possibly still working right, if its not booting then the default bank must be unprogrammed. You need that switch board repaired.

 

Iv got it on and the screen looks like a Xbox 360s haven't got a controller at minit thoe so can't click on anything at minit the light in front of Xbox is yellow and the screen is not filling up the hole telly screen what position shod the switches be in

Sounds like its booted into a custom dash just fine, its running the xbox360 unleashx skin likely. If it's not filling your screen its display settings are incorrect. But it sounds like it works.
