Cheers and thanks to everybody for there help Iv got a controller now the hhd is full of games and emulators but the emulators don't appear to have Roms in.can anyone tell me the easiest way.i dont have a pc so is there anywhere I could order them I mainly only want the snes games Iv also got a soldering iron now and will attempt the power issue later.thanks again got everyone's help

 

If you don't have a pc then you will have to find someone to burn the ROMs onto a DVD and copy them over that way. That is assuming that the DVD drive is working ok. Also bear in mind that the DVD drives can be quite fussy as to the type of media they read.

By far the easiest way would be to take it to a mates house and get them to download the ROMs then FTP them across.

 

Thank the disk drive works it's got 200gb and its saying it's got 41% free it has got a load of Xbox games on there and emulators.i don't no anyone that noes anything about modded consoles at all Iv looked on YouTube and seems really hard could I just not buy them some where.i could probily get hold of a laptop for a day or 2 but even if I find the Roms I don't no how to put in program types or even no how to copy ones Iv put it in the Xbox.is there anyone near Southampton that can hook me and till Xbox up also I would think the soft ware has gotten better by now as this had got to be about 8 years old if not older thanks and pleases some one help me i just want to play the snes again

Iv the Internet and a PS3 could I get a memory card in the PS3's usb save the Roms to that from the PS3 browser then get a Xbox usb reader.any chance that will work

It may seem that you do not know anyone that knows about this stuff but there are loads of knowledgeable people on here who can help you. But you almost must help us.

You say that the DVD drive is working but how do you know? Just the tray opening and closing does not mean it will read disks. Even if it reads a retail game, does not guarantee that it will read a homebrew disk.

You also say that there are emulators installed. Which ones? If you have the right ones already installed then it might be a case of just downloading the Roms you want. But you still need to get past the hurdle of how you copy them across.

Thanks so if I get a laptop down load it burn it to a disk copy the Roms to the Xbox is that it does it find its own way in to the right file Iv looked at a lot on youtube and i still have no idear.i don't no if it shows but I don't no what I'm doin

Thanks Iv already got loads of help from this forum I fort this Xbox was dead and now it's back to life and wish with ur guys help to get this running back to its best I'm goin to right down the emulators down quick and post.if there's any of the screens you or anyone would like to see then let me no and il post a pic.and yeah Iv only tested it but opening and shutting I'm and totally not very switched on with technoligy but am and will try I have a game I could test In it but don't have any copied disks I could probily find a copied dvd if that would help.

I also got the screen to fit and it's got 44 Xbox games on the hard drive witch is great but would love to be playing some snes games

 

The xsnes9x emulator is the old super Nintendo emulator your looking for. No idea what may be loaded on there for games since it have no way of knowing the contents of the hard drive but even if he games you want aren't loaded I'm sure the Xbox FTP tutorials that are all over the internet will show you how to add more ROMs. Looks like the Xbox is working great ATM, congrats on the awesome find.

 

Thanks a lot im very happy with it Iv is this snes emulator ok then can are the Roms persific for the diffrent emulators.iv watched the videos on the inter net and find it very paffaloling.im goin to get hold of a laptop Tomero and hopefuly give it a go.any help is very much welcomed.can I find it on the Internet burn it to a disk and play from that or copy that the the Xbox.i don't have a card reader for the Xbox but will get one if its Easyer

XBOX doesn't have ROMs.

 

It does when you're running emulators such as xsnes9x. To play old school games like super Mario.

 

They're not XBOX ROMs though.

I'm goin to hunt for snes Roms tonight and use someone's laptop Tomero to down load and burn.is there any chance I could download them in the right format i don't under stand changeing it .if it's a case of downloading and burning I'm shore I can handle that.thanks to all that have and continue to help thanks guys any help is welcomed .i would like all the snes Games and if I can the mega drives but since I ant got a clue on what I'm doin il be more than happy with the snes thanks again people super mario world (almost there )

Thank and understood.iv downloaded the Roms all I could find was supernintendoUSAromset.7z .what shod I do with it shod I winrar it or just burn or just copy it to a dvd+rw I'm goin to leave hear in about a hour to go home and try it out.

xbox drives are fickle when it comes to reading dvd's i doubt it'd read a rw,the samsung drives are the better of the 3 types

8x discs are best even more so for games if you want to play from dvd use quality discs not cheap junk

no need to burn anything as it's modded,use ftp you'll need to extract the game you mention from the 7z first then transfer

Never delete anything from the hdd unless you know what your doing,if you make changes to anything on the hdd create a backup before hand until you know whats what,do this by using copy option & place it on f or g perhaps in a folder called backup.Do not over fill the partitions by not leaving enough free space especially on E

The skin you have in the picture can be changed from the settings option

The applications you see in that screen selection will most probably have xbmc as a standalone OS,if its not there i suggest you place a copy here E\Apps\XBMC or F\Apps\ or g,Unleash will automatically scan all partitions & find the folder XBMC in The Apps or Application folder on next boot,this would be a better OS to use for ftp & general use.

Unleash as mentioned by previous member is where you set most settings,you'll need to set & write down your xbox's ip address,also set name & password for easy access make it Name & password for both the same: xbox ,you can change this later don't forget to save.you'll need to do the same with xbmc,just check all options so you can see what they do

Ok there's heaps to know it'll take time, however think of it like a computer, you have an OS where settings n stuff can be done incl play games,movies,music & pictures & you also have a file manager just like my computer in start menu of windows or linux

Thanks yeah I don't think Iv got a chance of doin this I'm well over my head is there deifnatly not a nuff memory there only Xbox game a and some emulators I would happily get rid of at least half the games on there as I won't play them but I'm not prepared to just delete anything cos I would probily mess it up.i will definitely keep reading over this again and again just to try understand it all.would I have more luck with a one of them card readers in the controller port and get the Roms on a memory card and play from that of not save that to the Xbox thanks for all the info.proper spun my mind trying to take it in but will continue to try.if there's some where I could take the Xbox to get it reprogrammed by some one who knows what there doing I really don't want to mess this up but realy want to play all the greats again

 

My bad the skin isn't from unleash,there is 2 mc360 skins for it however it only shows settings etc,the blades can't be moved so it appears you may already have xbmc as the default dash

There's nothing wrong with the skin you have shown regarding appears as 4:3 it's exactly how its supposed to be mine is the same,changing skin back to project mayhem III SE (which is the one i prefer for fast navigation) goes to full screen,however resolution can be changed from the system blade if desired

The dash as you can see in your screenshot has 4 options
1.xbox live
2.games
etc,etc each one of those are called blades,so use controller & scroll to the far right blade called system.
Once there you will see the name "Appearance" this is how you change the skin so if you have it change the skin to project mayhem III or better still project mayhem III SE (SE can give info of what dash version your on)

Why do you mention wanting a re-program what do you mean,put it this way the fact you can get to your dash suggests all is fine unless you can't scroll the blades or something or change skins etc

Its not as hard as it appears,nothing i'll get you to do will be detrimental so long as you have a working dvd drive & controller,using file managers in the mayhem skins will provide info on whats what even if you only have PM3.HD skin you'll know exactly how much space each partition has & their contents

It doesn't matter if the xbox itself carks it you still have the chip & the hdd which can be transferred to another console & even if the chips stuffs out chips are a dime a dozen,may not get the exact same one however coreduo 2's are still available new


Edit: how much free space do you have on your computer,do you have an external hdd that can store a backup of the xbox drive.No i'm not saying once backed up start deleting stuff there's no point your going to have to save for a larger hdd & most probably get a SATA hdd an adapter will be required.Setting a new drive up isn't hard i have all the software & set up cd's & dvd's that are required including up to date stable xbmc dashes assuming your dvd drive can read ok,by rights it's basically insert cd or dvd & click setup then your pretty much done..lol..

Hi thanks for all this i still find all this stuff proper over my head.by computer do you mean laptop or Xbox.the skin is fine with me unless you think I shod chance it to be Easyer.the disk drive works also I'm goin to order a usb plug for the Xbox so hopefuly I could do this with a usb stick because I don't own my own pc Iv got a notebook with no disk drive.could I buy each set of Roms on disks to just put in when want to play I have been told I don't have a nuff memory.
