We'd need a source. Someone posting on a low quality investor site isn't going to be believable without one.
There are two key words that bring into serious question the entire validity of this latest report: Zack Morris.
Unless this is talking about that new budget motion console that SEGA annouced a few weeks back, i wouldn't hold my breath.
Indeed. Perhaps this is another hair brained scheme concocted by Screech and him to get a date with Kelly. No doubt AC Slater will end up ruining it again though. AC SLATER! *shakes fist*
Sega leaving the console business was the biggest shocker of last decade. Sega... reentering the console business?! That is an ever bigger surprise! But, until we have more confirmation, we can't say just yet...
It's an interesting idea - the console market is incredibly unpredictable these days... I mean, who would've thought, say five or six years ago, that microsoft would be beating Sony and Nintendo would've cleaned up with the WII? True or not, if done properly, I don't think it's such a wild idea - the only snag is that apart from the genesis/megadrive - Sega have never managed to 'do it properly' so... well... it's probably not gonna happen in our lifetime - who would invest?
I do want a DC-2/new Sega console to be released but unless someone from Sega or wherever puts up strong information on the internet about a new console we have to accept that at the moment is not going to happen. I've seen way too many posts on the internet about someone thinking a new sega console might be on the way or posting about is it possible/what if Sega made a new console and to be honest its getting old now.
to begin with, with minimal investment I believe that an original dreamcast sold as a cheap alternative could still be profitable with the correct advertising and marketing. Just like the PS2 is still going strong.. so see original dreamcast hardware WITH a motion controller and good online play and new games in the pipeline at or around a pricetag of 59-99 bucks doesn't sound bad... Really next gen, well would be great but I just don't see it happen.
SEGA is enjoying their time as a publisher, leaving the risk of platform management to other firms and making cash off every platform known to man, including cellphones. I think it is wise to assume that they won't go back to their solitary ways now that they've tasted freedom.
It's too crowded with 3 consoles and 3 handhelds...there's no way sega will return until Nintendo bankrupts themselves (read Never) Besides we already have a Dreamcast 2
read: They can release any halfassed crap they want now that they don't have to worry about it killing their console.
