Looks very good parris. I'm surprised no one has made a TV program out of the idea of restoring old Arcade machines or at least none that i know of, there is a few about cars but i would love one about arcade cabs and it would be really interesting.
Congrats Parris, awesome job! I love Ridge Racer, one of my favorite driving games, and still my favorite console driving series. I would love to play Rave Racer, we never got that one at any arcades near my house. :crying: ^_^_^
Well, believe it or not this item is now sold. We'd had a right good bit of usage from it, could play each title backwards, forwards, complete each track and kept coming in first or hitting 'New Record'. Great fun, but it was time to move it on. So, it has sold... What?! Yeah, I know! However, it is going to be replaced... Welcome Naomi 2 sit down "Initial D" cabinet ! <Photos to follow once I get time>
Did you get rid of it due to limited space or just out played the game? Btw, I dug out a few of my Initial D cards from when the arcade near me had the games. Once you acquire this cabinet, I will be over with my cards and a few cases of your favorite lager/liquor. ^_^_^
Agreed ;-) Sorry I never noticed this thread before, I would've helped with the monitor! At least you got that done relatively quickly.
Once I tidy up my Photobucket and sort through the thousands of images I have of various dismantled consoles and units, rename them and sort them into some order, then I shall repost the relevant images. All I can say is that it all got a bit bloody messy with me posting images in the wrong folders etc.
I originally had two of these RR cabinets in the garage and I must admit they were taking up more room than I was happy with. However, the single RR cab wasn't TOO bad! A friend of mine in England wanted the cabinet and kept mentioning it, asking about it and eventually making an offer. At first I refused, but then he ended up buying a really ratty one and struggled to get anywhere with it. In the end I decided that I'd like something a bit more modern that took up less space, so I can attempt to get a Ridge Racer V cabinet in there too ;-) Which version of Initial D did you have card(s) for? I am not sure whether the card reader is working on the unit I have ear marked. It needs a bit of work, but apparently it does run and the screen is fine. Out of the frying pan and into the fire! Here we go again!
how much did you get for it ??? im curious how high the price of the scud racer twin i am looking at will go
I have cards for Initial D Arcade Stage and Stage Ver.2. Yeah, it is always cool to hook friends up that way. Also I'm sure you can go over and play whenever you want, so you aren't completely out of the experience. Oh yes, RR V. I desperately want to play the arcade ver. We never got that due to arcades pretty much disappearing years ago from the NJ/NY area of the East Coast. :crying: ^_^_^
I actually got the opportunity to obtain a Ridge Racer V twin cabinet for almost nothing, but it required 2 x Namco motherboards and the RRV discs / dongles. I located 1 in Australia, but lost the sellers email address :-( There is a seller in the UK, but they are looking for a considerable amount of money for a single seater version of the title.
Odd. Fun 'n' Games at the Willowbrook Mall in NJ only closed last year. And isn't Chinatown Fair in NYC still going? Oh, and Dave & Buster's. I went to Smiles in Milton, CT. That should still be going - they mostly had retro stuff, mind you.
