Hotswapping Xbox HDD with IDE-USB converter help

If the drive is unlocked, its not going to boot unless you have modded the console.

 

Thanks! I'll give it a shot in a minute, so now hopefully with that program i can try grabbing out that eeprom.bin from E:/ and see if it needs to be locked.

And yeah also thanks for the heads up on that eBay guy.

 

Btw, I got the FatXEplorer program and now could i just use the hard drive straight away or do i actually have to dump the HDD? Thanks alot again

It's loading the update.xbe by the looks of it in the xodash folder.

Download these following rars.

Extract them, so you have the following.

Media
NKPatcher
xodash
Xboxdash.xbe

Transfer those folders & xbe to your Xbox hdd (C partition) & then use my extras disc or hexen to fix your Xbox.

It will turn the led orange & allow you to load unsigned code, it won't load the rescue dash or any dashboard as there not there (I create them when softmodding the system) but you can load a disc & fix your Xbox.

 

So your saying i have to format my C: partition before copying them or is it fine to copy the files over?

 

Just delete everything in the C partition & copy the new files over.
(Don't need to format)

No, the media, nkpatcher & xodash folders go into the C partition, as well as the xboxdash.xbe

You will get a black screen, but the led on the Xbox should turn orange.

Orange led means softmodded, ie, unsigned code will load now.

How are you transferring the files?

 

I did exactly that and it booted to error 21, my last softmod was UnleashX if you needed to know. I use Xboxhdm to transfer files

 

When I get home I will upload a file for you. Prob be an hour or so.

Create a new build of XBHDM with these folders & that should be you.

 

It booted me to an error 21 again i don't understand how uxe complete works but everything else from ndure to your stuff it simply gives an error? what flags do you guys set your stuff too?

 

There is something else going on here, I tested the files I sent you before & they work fine.

What exactly is it you are doing? Step by step info would be great.

 

Alright first, I'd formatted my C: partition then I'd copied the softmod files to it from xbrowser and then at first i copied the prep folder to E: and that didn't work and then second try i tried copying everything from inside the prep folder to the root of my E: partition and that also gave me a error 21 plus i can't boot any unsigned or official xbox games at all. Also if you need my Kernel it's 5101 just to let you know and my Xbox is a v1.1

You need to rebuild the hdd with XBHDM, explorer360 & other tools have issues coping folders correctly to the hdd/usb/memory card, under anything other than XP.

When coping the files, make sure they are on the hdd correctly before locking & testing.
