Man, fuckyness is awesome. I'm adding that to my repitoire.

 

It was a 1 year old girl. the mother was 23.

 

Miike films are hardly mainstream in Japan. Any film, for that matter, is almost never an extension of reality. Even the most tame of dramas are fantasy. Basing a culture on it, is of course, childish. Should we analyze American culture based on impressions from Americas version of film?

It should be noted that most Japanese movies in Japan aren't really mainstream. How could they be w/ the movie theaters playing the last show of the night at 7PM (save the weekend). Dipshits.

Reminds me that something like this almost happened to me 6 years ago when I was going to work, the lady jumped off the last floor and landed like twenty meters forward me. That was the most horrible thing I ever saw in my life. Not to mention that I realised four days later that she could have actually kill me if I was, like, 10 seconds earlier

 

Thats happened here actually. By people that SHOULD know better, too.

Its like blanket statements are only "Ok" to use on certain places.:shrug:

WTF? I think suicide in a public place is extremely selfish. I mean... no way would I want to see someone go splat. Sorry to hear that you had to see that. From what I understand, it's not pretty.

 

That's about as open-minded as assuming that US culture is just like daytime soap operas.

Personaly I always wondered why people commit suicide in public. Is it so people hear of their death? Why is jumping off a building better then just a warm bath, a bottle of wine and some sharp razor blades.

Well, when you've got nothing to keep you alive, I don't think selfishness and such stuff still exists in your mind. Moreover, when you decide to kill yourself, I think your mind is already dead so I wouldn't judge anyone that commits suicide. More the society and circumstances that make the person go so far.
And yes, it's horrible, the woman was still alive when I ran to here and called the emergency but there was like one liter of blood around her and you could see that her bones were crushed toward the lungs (she felt on the belly which is the worst possible case)

 

The one in the original post was done in Ikeburkuro -- a very busy part of town. I can only guestimate that like 100 people witnessed this. :/

I assume people jump b/c it's impossible to pull back from... whether you succeed or not is another story, but people survive overdoses and slitting their wrists all the time.

 

Thats why they take a nice bath to keep the blood from clotting.


Overdosing rarely works well.
