Hi guys I'm looking for a way to take Composite video and output it to Component, I'm not looking to take shit and shine it up since doing this conversion will not improve the image quality. I have a nice capture card (PEXHDCAP) that takes everything except Composite and S-Video and I would like to record Composite on it and before anyone says to plug the Composite Yellow RCA into one of the Component RCA (Green) all it does is output a black and white image.

I tried to use a DVD Recorder to pass through the video and although it does work there is significant lag to where the game is really hard to play. I also bought an AV2HDMI and while it works the recorded video/audio is 2x the normal speed. I assume this is because the AV source is 29.97FPS and HDMI outputs 60FPS (according to Amarec) which I have tried to tweak all setting to fix but to no avail.

So I was hoping someone knew of a cheap device or diy method (schematic and necessary components) to split the Composite signal into Component so I can capture video with little lag if possible.

Different color system, as you discovered on your own. Composite to component involves decoding NTSC/PAL/SECAM.

Im surprised your capture card doesnt allow composite through the green port.

That does pretty much what my AV2HDMI and again like I said above the output video and audio is doubled in speed which totally sucks because it works otherwise fine.

I have gone through 2 different USB crapture cards and guess what? these pieces of shit weren't made to handle 240p only 480i/p, I discovered this after trying tons of drivers and programs and finally I tried using the DVD Recorder as an upscaler and I finally had an image but with the mentioned lag I get with the DVD Recorder.

My capture card is great for HDMI and Component as well as RGB from 240p but no S-Video or Composite and many people have asked about this in various forums and no real answer besides a DVD Recorder (with lag) mentioned.

I was hoping to have an actual solution to this as I don't want to spend more money on another card simply for Composite and the only one I've used that did Composite fine was the Elgato but it didn't do 240p Component which is why I got rid of it.

I've owned the pinnacle, it was meh..
The Happague HDPVR 1 works well for composite, pretty sure it supported 240p IIRC
The Diamond VC500 looks like a pretty generic card, like those $10 jobs on ebay

If you have the cash to burn then this is one of the best that I've used for Composite and S-Video along with it being good for HDMI also it just won't do 240p over Component.

Make sure it's not the HD60 version as that doesn't support the classic consoles.

I have and HD PVR 1 and can confirm it does not support 240p. It gives a black screen with no sound on Component video and an unstable, cutting in and out, image/sound on Composite video.

No, mine is the original Hauppauge HD PVR 1. It only has Composite Video in, S-Video in, Component Video in/out, RCA audio in/out, and TOSLINK in/out. No HDMI.

It does convert composite video and S-Video to Component though.

That converter will probably work better than my cheap RadioShack HDMI to Component converter. My SCART to HDMI Converter supports Composite Video, S-Video, and RGBS at 240p and 480i so I can record those. Haven't tried 480p 31KHz RGB SCART yet. The problem with my Converters are that the HDMI to Component converter displays my SCART converter improperly. The image is off-centered vertically. Hopefully that HDMI to Component converter you linked works better and displays things properly.

The HD PVR1 can only do 480i/576i/480p/576p/720p at 60 FPS. 1080i is 30 FPS and 1080p isn't even supported.

Does your scart to Hdmi upscale? Because scart carries composite does it not?

Yes it does upscale to various resolution including HD. SCART supports Composite Video, S-Video, RGBS, and audio. It also converts PAL/SECAM to NTSC.
