    Hi guys

I have been searching for a solution to this for a while, without any luck.

I recently purchased a Soft Modded Original Xbox, it came with Media X Menu installed.

From what I can see, this hack is pretty useless, and is very limited function wise.

I would like to have it removed and install UnleashX.

Now, I cant see anything like "uninstall" in the menus, nor can I access any sort of file browser. I just dont know how to do this.

Can someone please help me with this?

Photos attached of what the menus look like.

    Big Thanks!

    step one: go here.
step two: absorb the information and assimilate.
step three: download the babylon2 archive.
    step four: expand archive.
step five: using imgburn, write image to disk at 8x. (no deviation, developer advice from SPPV himself)
step six: cold boot the disk and the babylon menu should appear. (place disk in drawer, reset console)
step seven: select the da$h of your choice. (UNLX is present, plus MORE if you require it)
    step eight: PROFIT! :witless:
    have fun!

Run Auto Installer Deluxe and overwrite UnleashX.

Don't forget to back up your eeprom if you want to go with a bigger HDD.

And even if you don't, back it up for safety.

Thanks for that, yes I have all the necessary tools that you mentioned above.

Sorry for a noob question, but what does cold boot mean?

Also what type of disc does original xbox read, for me to burn the files on?

Do you mean official MS dash auto installer, or unleashX auto installer?

no such thing as noob here. :wink-new:
coldboot means, powerup the console with disk in the drawer.
for the sake of ease, pretend you left a game disk in the console, forgot to take it out, but you powered it up the next day, only for that game to boot automatically.
    ...
it's the iso file you need to write to disk.
get SPPV's finest (babylon archive) and expand it, you'll see a few files, but the one you require is the babylon2.iso. (may have got the filename wrong, but there's only one iso in that archive)
simply direct imgburn to that iso as if you was writing a backup game disk (8x write speeds) and go with the above.
you should be golden then! (if still in difficulty, just report back and i'll assist where possible)
    all the best! :witless:

It's called Auto Installer Deluxe it's not named anything else. You'll find it in a quick google search.

I just went to look at the AID page, can't believe that was updated as recently as 2011! I've never used it myself, when I originally modded my XBOX I wasn't aware of it. Might pick up another box this weekend to play around with, got some big IDE drives lying around collecting dust.

@ OP: Hexigon is absolutely right, as your box is already modded, AID is going to be the easiest way to install all the functionality you could ever want.

Make sure you choose the XBMC and ZSNES options, they are essentials IMHO. Also, try and find the MamedOX complete pack, it's an awesome arcade emulator that includes most every game you might ever want to play.

Aid is great, but beware I had issues getting a thompson drive to read the aid disc. Aid takes forever to load even on a good working dvd drive. I think if the disk/game hasn't booted within 2 mins it goes to the error screen?

I just remember not being able to use aid, but had no issues with slayers installer. With a good dvd drive, I prefer aid, so many more tools and options. The only thing it can't do is tsop flash a winbond chip, you'd need the hexen disk for that.

AID takes forever any drive hah, it's a horrible little tool, but great for first timers to get things running again. Instead of telling people to FTP here, go there, download this, delete that, paste that etc.

    Hello

I decided to go with AID method, as it seemed very easy to do.

I think I have now broken my xbox, because the console now just boots to Error 14.

What I did was, it asked me to umount virtual C or something like that, in order to be able to install dual boot unleashX.

Can someone please help me to fix this?

I did back up the EEPROM on E drive, if that helps.

    Thank you

if the item above is used and it's doesn't seem to have made changes, DISABLE shadowC if it was enabled in the first place. (if not, IGNORE the shadowC bit and go about it the usual way)
it's present as an option on babylon2 installer.
take it from the top and create a disk first, install it and see.
if that fails, undo shadowC volume security.and try again.
when the mod is successful, redo shadowC if you want 100% peace of mind from da$h fuckups.
(shadowC is protection from os partition changes, to protect from end-user fuckups and if leaving console with children and want that safety while back is turned)

    Thanks for your help.

I am downloading Babylon 2 now.

Once burned to disc, will this bypass the error 14 and will xbox be able to boot from this iso?

    Many thanks!

you got it in one! :wink-new:
refer to the coldboot bit though.
regardless of shadowC, that disk should boot all the same.
it's if shadowC was enabled that you can't alter the da$h UNLESS it's disabled.
but i don't envisage any real difficulty atm if i'm understanding the subject progress.
you should be fine! :witless: (please report back on your progress and/or possible resolution)
    good luck! :smile-new:

You have a modchip you can't break your console. Just load up AID again, and use modchip one-click install. Choose UnleashX and you're done.

Hi, What makes you think I have a mod chip? All this time I thought I had a soft mod? When I try to load any disc now, the xbox just shows error 14. Thanks

^^ if i'm understanding above, you've tried all options and had no luck? (it's a general response to current situation?)
look at this hotswap subject by the man himself, it's a last resort if still stuck on error 14/16.
    BE WARNED.
this can be a proper slag to accomplish.
you'll require patience, and i wouldn't blame you for getting angry at it.
only ever succeeded once, but it will work IF you're successful. (you have some disks made now, KEEP em as they're tools for future uses)
if the response above me is directed to the one above you, i wasn't here.
if it's directed to us all, visit the link.
also, SPPV's channel if you require it!
as he's a developer, he'll go to hell and back to assist you, hit him up at xtras (above) or email at his apps site (i linked on my first response) and i'm certain he'll get back in-touch, tell him i sent you! :smile-new: [edit]
