Thing is though the Simpsons has been Kinda good lately. Alot more hits than misses.

Although you do get a few Been there before episodes too.

The problem with The Simpsons is that it stopped being stories about the characters and their town and began merely using the characters as bit parts to drive bad topical story lines. Pretty much every Simpsons set in a foreign country is a good example of this. The Simpsons should stay in Springfield.

Never liked Fmily Guy, tried to listen a whole episode a few times, and failed miserably...
Given up The simpsons a few seasons ago.

South Park is probably the only one that got more interesting with the seasons.

American dad is funny, not as good as Family Guy IMO, but seriously?!?! It seems like im the only one who likes any of this shit :crying:

I once borrowed the first season of Family Guy off a friend - watched it all and decided not to borrow the next season.

It's not that it's bad, I just think it's mindwash that fills space. I laughed properly once or twice, and the rest was just slackjawed input of images. I honestly cannot remember anything about it.

It spends way too much time in the 'hey, remember this...' and does a parody of it. I say a parody - most parodies are more than just 100% replicating the clip with your characters and no changes whatsoever.

I watched the odd episode outside of that, and I just go 'I'd rather be spending my time watching or doing something else. This isn't fufilling me'.

That, and it should never have been brought back. Hey, I'm currently having second thoughts about the return of Futurama now I've watched all the movies.

American Dad IS FAMILY GUY. Roger is Stewie and Nazi Fish is Brian.

American Dad is family guy with jokes that follow a continuous plot of the episode ala simpsons rather than joke after joke.

I read a quote from McFarlene that they actually write the episodes without the jokes in mind and just pick and choose them. sometimes they write gags and save'em for later.

If you watch the pitch they did for Family Guy in the mid 90's, every joke used was eventually put into an episode.

American Dad jokes tend to have to do with the actual storyline happening.

And you're right, I'm not sure if what they do is considered parody actually. I mean, the A-Team Episode is almost 1:1 minus off timing. The only thing different is the last clip, Peter (Hannibal) was in the jeep that flipped rather than the jeep being chased.

Stewie in the Tootsie clip is almost 1:1 as is Stewie in Sesame Street's Pinball...

Family Guy is more funny if you just watch the gags on youtube. Trying to follow it as an actual show is mind numbing.

Everything said is true but it doesn't mean I can't enjoy it. Because it does make me laugh quite a bit.

    This.

    Seriously.

WTF is it? I watched it once and it's EXACTLY like Family Guy, like, the same fucking thing, not a single change but the characters' skin tone.

I guess most of us likes Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad.

The problem is when they simply stop being funny. And they did, unfortunately.

South Park figured out (early on) that just being offensive isn't enough to keep an audience.

Family Guy: I used to LOVE it, but I watched it so much that I just got bored of it

The Simpsons are getting good again, but I thought the episode today with the religions was a bit tasteless at times. I dont take any of that stuff seriously at all, but they just didnt approach certain things in the funny way they could have.

I would just like to say that last nights new episode of Family Guy is a perfect example of how this show continues to crack me up. I was laughing for a majority of the episode. Anyways, what is and isnt funny is a matter of opinion. everyone i know except me thinks the US version of the office is the funnier version, where i think the UK version is way funnier. I dont find Seinfeld the least bit funny at all, but there are millions who still say its the funniest show ever. My whole point is, just because you never found family guy funny, or used to and think its not anymore, there are still loads of people who love the show. Its a shame you cant enjoy it as so many others are ( talking to YOU GoH, lol), but everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

EDIT: And BTW, that south park episode that GoH is referring to is fucking hilarious. The "Cowabunga, Motherfucker!" from bart simpson had me on the floor cracking up the first time i saw it.
