Thunderhawk was a technical master piece I always thought. The Saturn game was alos pretty cool but after that Core started making shit after shit. BLAM Machinehead? Shelll Shock? and any Tomb Raider after part 2. Yakumo
I have to admit that Thunderhawk on the Mega CD is one of my favourite games. I only got a copy of it about five years ago, but always liked how it was so vastly different to the Amiga version (which I've owned and enjoyed since my Amiga days).
Hm, I never really looked into it, but I wasn't aware that the general consensus is MCDs are very unreliable. Perhaps I've been lucky - my MCD1 (which I've had since the 90s, used regularish) is still alive and whirring. I've also had a number of others arrive from evilBayland (both models) and two Multimegas, all of which have worked perfectly. The role of the FMV game in the failure of the console is probably overstated btw, being as there were only a few :/ There's a lot of good games for it; just have to look around.
I always thought that Heavenly Symphony was a better technical game then Thunderhawk was. Ah the Mega CD, nee Wondermega is a great machine. Can't wait to play it again.
I can think of maybe 2 Mega CD games I thought were actually good games. Final Fight CD and Lords of Thunder. Those were sweet games.
What, no love for Lunar or Dark Wizard? I have a particular affection for rail shooters like Silpheed and odd RPG sequels like Dungeon Explorer. There's not a lot of quantity in Mega CD games, but the few high-quality titles are off the scale in my opinion.
Well I was going by what I could think of off the bat. It's not to say I think all the other games suck, its just that those 2 are the ones that stand out in my mind. Funny they are both ports.
