Lately ive seen people having problems with people being pretty greedy with builds.
    (Like 1.5).

Well, i would think to prevent this, people who buy an unleaked build should be forced by Assembler rules to release that build if they buy it.
I know that if they buy it "Its their property now, blah blah blah", but how many times is an unleaked game gonna get into the wrong hands of someone who dont know the word: Share?

I'd flame you on this & greedy is the last thing anyone (including myself) would label me. Wouldn't you be greedy for wanting something that you have no right to own? Trust me, I love beta's getting out there to the public, but forcing it? Ridiculous idea.

Then no one would post about it here, people would leave. Sharing isn't a right, its a privilege. The amount of games I buy through this forum are so limited at this point. And what if Im told specifically not to leak it, should I listen to some forum, or the person I bought it from?

Well almost 60% of the time someone sells a beta thats unleaked, they make that rule up themselves. They are not the original creator and most of the time are not the one who originally had it. Heck, id bet alot of times betas are come across they get it from goodwill or another weird store.

You can go in the marketplace, buy all the betas that are for sale there, then release them...

Dude, If they don't want to release it then it's their right to not to. If you forced everyone to release unreleased stuff that has been sold then that might just scare a bunch of users away and then we may NEVER get a release of the betas.

You're wrong, but you are entitled to think whatever floats your boat.

We're spoilt for choice for betas, I say be happy with what's been released.

There are people who like to share, there are collectors who like to collect - What anyone does with their property is their business - you can't force people to share anything, nor should we. Many of these games are still active IP's (res evil is a good example) owned by massive corporations. We aren't talking about dead media here... if we were I'd agree with you wholeheartedly.

This isn't the USSR. If you want something don't wait for someone else to do all the work for you and then expect your share. Sometimes they share sometimes they do not. If you REALLY want something go find it yourself. I've had 1000s of prototypes and it really isn't that hard to find them.

You need a computer, google and an email address. That is it.

I am not a collector of prototypes, but I never understand why some people call collector's who don't want to share "greedy". Yes, sometimes it's a one of a kind. Yes, sometimes it will vanish forever in the basement of the highest bidder.

There are some very rare games out there that haven't been dumped yet, but people still own it. They spent a lot of time to search for it and paid a huge chunk of money for the transaction in order to be able to enjoy that game. Now someone comes along and asks "Can you remove all the specialness from your item so I, who didn't invest any effort or money to acquire it, can just get it for having some 5 minute fun?" "No." "Oh boy you're GREEDY."

Reminds me of Scrooge McDuck and those bums in front of his money bin. lol
No offense, but wanting to make this a rule and calling collector's greedy is a step too far.

Hey, I'm going to pay 3 million yen for a new car (30'450 US Dollars) and then let everyone use it for free. Am I fuck! I may give people rides in it but no way in hell am I going to give it away for public use free of charge.

You may think I'm being silly but it's just the same as paying a shit load on a beta then just giving it away for free. Sure, it's not as much money but it's still the same.

Put it this way, any beta builds of a game I've owned in the past I've made videos and pictures for all to see. I then either keep the beta or sell it on to a private buyer or public group who what to release it. Money is needed for life. If I was a wealthy man then sure, I'd share for free since buying betas would be pocket change. For the average Joe though, that just isn't the case.

This themes of betas and unreleased game are always conflicting conversations. If I found some betas in the wild I'll released it because for me they are just games. But that its me. A person who owns a beta and pays high sums of money for it, it his right if he wants to share it or not. No one can force the person to release it, and if he wants money for the release is his rights also. For my part I'm no beta or unreleased hunter I just play and try what its available.

It is not about greed, I agree with the premise in fact but the thing is there is no way to enforce such a rule is there? Also, you don't want to start trying to enforce what someone can and cannot do with their own property regardless of your personal feelings on the matter.

ccrogers you're really letting your emotions get the best of you. What obligation does someone who spent their own money have to release something? It'd be nice if people shared everything they got, but even I've had to accept the fact numerous times in life that you can't have everything. Want isn't equal to need. You're confusing what you want as some sort of obligation towards strangers that don't know you. We're lucky that after people spend so much money on things they even put up fundraisers so we can get a dump of the data.

It'd also be a good idea to keep in mind that talking in such a mean manner and constantly using the word greed really puts people off. If someone had something and they saw you yelling at them like that, they might get discouraged to share anything simply out of spite. I've seen it happen before :/ We're all only human after all, it's hard to care about what someone wants when they're calling you a greedy no good hoarder.

This all coming from me who just leaked something =p But everything has its own unique situation, and you situation is basically saying if someone buys something, you deserve it for free. I'm sure the general response from most people would be "Fuck you." If anyone ever shares anything, that's a decision they should be allowed to make themselves. Having others telling you to do so is quite frankly pretty arrogant and just rude. Well, unless you ask nicely and don't come off as being entitled :)

That's the best typo I've seen in a while lol XD

This topic has been covered before in another section at some stage, but people who keep betas are not greedy. Firstly it cost a fuck load of money to even get near them for one, and secondly most people who own betas need to at least recover that cost. Which sometimes is done through donations, for example the Rareware fundraiser being ran by Borman (sorry to single you out here man), but how else would he be able to eat again after releasing $3,000 worth of betas?

Put yourself in the owner's shoes, not everyone can afford to stand over a bridge and empty their wallet out.

There is no typo, just regional differences in use of English.
