Info about Resident Evil 1.5

Is this just the re-dubbed version?

 

Exactly what I thought when i saw it. You be crazy to bid at that price too on that auction, hell I sold a PS2 Debug for £150 just recently. And like borman said. bundle the released code on a disc and write some Jap characters on it lol, yet i'm not that sad or a con artist to do such a thing.

 

Nah, it has quite a good amount of brand new stuff. It should have been called probably making of 3.5, since it shows both old stuff (but fixed) and new features such as the reworked door transitions and bug/crash free zombies.

 

They are making great process. It's really something nice to see all the new stuff in action.

 

Cool, just watched the video and it's very impressive. Though as always I'll be checking in every now and then for a potential release date and ignoring the rest of the scene until then. Too much time is spent on drama over this thing and I really can't be arsed with any of that any more.

Agreed. But, it updates with new info way sooner than it appears on here. I myself have a few times put new information in this thread that has been on the THIA forum for days.

Once you filter through all the bullshit and get to know the main guys in the community, it can be fine.

Yeah, the community itself can be iffy, but I've been a member there for 6 years. I'm a regular and post all the time, but recently there's been some hate towards me for no reason.

I'd not been keeping track of the thread over at THIA for a while... only now I wish that I had. So, let me get this straight: regular user (and wealth of Biohazard 1.5 related information) Richard Mandel has now revealed himself - via two comprehensive YouTube walkthrough videos - as the owner of the mythical 40% complete vanilla build the restoration team sourced for its ongoing project, which cost him $2500 last year on eBay? Wow - he sure kept THAT quiet! Still, at least this should silence all those desperate for the untouched prototype to surface, since B.Zork and Birkin were right in their claims it was a glitchy, unfinished mess. Only when you realise just how many bugs they've "smashed" or the number of backgrounds extracted from the Trial Edition that were put in to replace half-finished rooms can you even begin to appreciate the skills of IGAS. Of course, not everyone will accept their various implemented Easter eggs and newly created areas, but for me their work serves as a great stop gap for when/if the last known era 5 version surfaces. Come to think of it, weren't there hints of them having some kind of indirect access to this later period? I suspect this was more than just being able to insert stage data from that period in the game's development, and may extend to AI, animations or even the voice acting files long rumoured to exist. After all, nobody affiliated with their efforts have ever confirmed who made the character speech teased previously in fleeting conversation.

Just finished reading his "article". Very interesting stuff, clearly a heck of a lot of work was put into it. A fantastic read for anyone wanting the full (as full as there currently is) story on 1.5. Its a big read but well worth it. You can find it over on THIA forums.

 

It could have been somewhat good if it actually had some double checks on public information and less copy & paste from forum boards. As for private information, BZork hinted something about the "story of builds" being bogus, which casts some shadows on how reliable the "former team associate" is even supposed to be. There's also a good and clear deal of personal interpretation gone wrong in there. Definitively nothing too impressive, if not for the length of it, but quantity doesn't necessarily come with quality.

 

I'll never apologize for my lack of moderating the place as strictly as I should've. Never.

 

Now that I've read through RMandel's "book," I'm struck by two things: IGAS is now only able to use information obtained from the last known build - as sourced for the Complete Disc footage - rather than having direct access to this version (even if they can still use backgrounds from the Trial Edition, not to mention clearly possessing the ability to reproduce cut scenes, evidenced by their claim that fight between a mutated Birkin and the man-spider will feature in their restoration). Also, his efforts reminded me how far back my own similar project has slipped... I'd better get back to work, even if Sam Pettus has already written a decent enough similar extended piece on the history of Sega, though for the record I was hoping to focus mainly on just the Saturn era!

P.S. On the subject of Resident Evil 2 for the Saturn, wasn't this being converted by Nextech like the first game as opposed to something Capcom was handling in-house?
