Info about Resident Evil 1.5

    Capcom may not be too bothered, but it's clear that certain former members of the development team might - I doubt Shinji Mikami would be that concerned, though I know Hideki Kamiya's been prickly in the past on the subect of 1.5, even if he did just recently answer a question about how he recalls the mutated apes breaking into the conference room, which now appears to have been confirmed as via the windows. If anyone still cared enough to block this project, it would probably end up being Kamiya.

    P.S. Gemini, I realise that I.G.A.S. was using the now-leaked "PVB" as its main point of reference and you're likely to be under restrictions as to what exactly you can disclose, but is there any truth to a rumour that assets from the last known (December 1996?) version prior to production being restarted have also been sourced? I suspect that if anything was provided by a private collector, the files may have related to models, animations and backgrounds missing in the earlier prototype... I can only hope!

    Kamiya couldn't block the project even if he wanted to. Capcom is the only one with legal standing to block it.

    Every time I read that "PVB" oxymoron name I feel the urge to fire babies straight into the sun. Anyways, I've got no clue as I'm no spokesman; I don't have access to many of this kind of details and I rather prefer it'd this way. With leaks, "writers" making up all sort of "facts", mysterious sources claiming to have several non-existing builds, and all this kind of rumors/fake info surrounding this prototype, the less known the better. Still, if any private collector were to make contact they wouldn't be mentioned unless requested otherwise.

    Oh, let me guess, maybe you prefer to call it "Team IGAS base work"? probably yes.

    You seem a little angry for that information which was revealed, let me guess again, probably all that is true? since Alzaire was the source from almost all the story?

    I personally trust RMandel's words, and I do not trust you will share something with people after all, let me put a example, where is that famous Battle Mode you talk/show us a lot and said about a release in christmas? maybe is for next christmas? or maybe it will never be release, since you are not sure if people deserve that? or maybe you just are not sure if release your work with people?

    It seems to me that you have a kind of fear when it comes to release something, if so, stop fool people with projects that we will probably never see out.

    Weird indeed that you mention Alzaire, which is pretty much where the "story" starts to crack up and gets twisted beyond real facts. Have fun believing that fantasy novel.

    Get to program yourself a game, and I mean a real one, then come back with this nonsense cleared up in your mind. Quality takes time, which apparently you ignore entirely. Also, the release was never set in stone and it's stated multiple times in several places. Going fantasy like your friend?

    Anyway, I trust most of that "fantasy story", it have a lot of true (and come on, you really know that!).

    The point is not about rush a project, I know it take time, is about your real intentions, I mean, is your real intention share your work? or just show it?

    Mmm, sorry, but I really not trust you, maybe the day that you share something with us, I will change my mind about you (light years).

    Funny that you say I don't share things when I clearly did multiple times over the years both in private and public forms. Here, just a recent example of how your argumentations are completely wrong. And yes, I know that a lot of that story was made up on purpose to trick people into thinking that IGAS are the bad guys just "because drama". Have fun with that, but next time try not spread false info about people who can stand up and reply.

    I'm talking about your actual projects (playable ones), not info, have it really some future to waiting for? is it really made with release intentions? or maybe is made only to show and increase your egos?

    So your only argumentations are insults and a project to which I even publicly released info on how to achieve the translation? Of course, no mentioning of how somebody else took that info and passed it down entirely as their own work. Yeah, that makes me such a bad and not trustworthy person. Thank you very much for your contribution out of context and entirely distorted.

    I reckon they're going to make the playable demo something really special - maybe we'll even get new puzzles and enemies set in the completed RPD with a very small teaser of what to expect later in the game, possibly showing off a little of the recreated sewer areas with a specially designed boss encounter followed by a "to be continued" type message? Of course, this would also be a perfect opportunity for Team I.G.A.S. to include their previously revealed battle simulator mode, as they could then use the preview to measure player reaction and fix any reported bugs or make last minute improvements based on feedback received.

    I kind only have very basic knowledge of programming (Like "Hello World and such programs. :p")

    ..... How does Team IGAS "restore" content? Even a brief summary would be appreciated. :)

    I don't proclaim to be some kind of programming expert (though I could put together a few decent little things in BASIC by a surprisingly young age thanks to the Amstrad CPC 464 my parents bought when I turned three, but I digress...), yet I seem to recall someone from I.G.A.S. confirming that a lot of their work is done using editor tools and code injection. Now they've switched over to Squeeze Bomb, I suspect things will be made a lot easier due to this being more of a self contained engine with less need for bug fixes or the need for extremely patience-testing levels of trial and error, where they once complained that one change would introduce three new problems. The part I'm most curious about is how they've been able to crack the layer mask aspect, since I don't recall any previous efforts that have come even remotely close to what "D. Birkin" and the rest of the team are seemingly capable of accomplishing.

    It's not that hard if you can set up object and depth buffers to be saved along with the actual render. The only tricky part gets when you need to make the depth values usable and reorganize layers and objects in a grid.

    Long before the GBC prototype surfaced, I'd actually started playing around with creating a similar engine where the main objective was to simulate the way I figured Capcom was able to achieve the same effect in their actual Resident Evil games. Ironically, the main principle was centred around the use of depth buffers just as you mentioned, and though I was able to get a very basic working version up and running with some placeholder 2D graphics, I never took the project further, mainly due to my lack of coding skills, but also because I simply lost interest - once I had recreated a few sections of 1.5 from screenshots and video footage, the novelty quickly wore off and I didn't really think the world needed someone taking potentially years to make yet another fan game based on this series (especially not when you consider many of the vastly superior efforts being produced with polygonal models as opposed to purely sprite-based graphics, as in my case). I really should dust off my old archive of CDRs to see if any of the various little ideas that I was coming up with throughout college are worth revisiting... I seem to recall building a functional "Super Scaler" tech demo in TGF, a side-scrolling Panzer Dragoon inspired shooter plus a rather ambitious top-down free roaming concept with some 3D elements that impressed some of my friends back then, to describe just a few of my better experiments!

    This is clearly not going to happen. Seems to have been lingering for years and all that happens in the meantime is endless lies speculation and gibberish from an assortment of regular fantasists/weirdos and a whole heap of let down for the average joe just hoping that something playable shows up. :p

    Some people's lives seem to be lived for nothing but Resident Evil hype/BS and they need to keep this garbage alive just to exist.
