Cool! I feel sorry for whoever's desk that was, being relegated to sitting under the stairs in the basement, clearly no one likes them much in the RPD :witless:

Forgot to mention that: google Resident Evil modifications, it's there in the 1.5 thread.

Those pictures of the stairs are fake.

Assuming all this all comes from a common source, they appear to be reproductions for the intended purpose of completing the rooms which are missing from the PSM build. All speculation of course, but a likely scenario.

I'm surprised some people in that thread think they're just clear images off the disc, they're obviously remakes and not originals since the PSX never had them compressed so clean like that.

Considering there's no proof that post is from the people supposedly with the disc, I wouldn't put too much into this either. I'm just looking forward to a release and that's it, all the cryptic anonymous updates that happen in between just gets boring and overdone.

The quality of these matches up with other background files from the trial disc :dejection:

Images that appear in-game or just files on the disc?

I don't know anything Biohazard myself really, all I know is those look too good quality to be something in-game, going by how compressed all BGs usually would look from what I've played before.

Files on the disc (which is the same thing really, files which appear in game are the same as files on the disc?), which these pictures clearly are too, unless they've got some invisible character stuff going on. The look worse when you play the game because they're blown up to twice their native size for display, those pictures are the background files native resolution so they look cleaner.

I didn't consider the images are blown up when displayed in the game :x

I agree the stairs some what look different though, but then again that original screenshot is so blurry who knows what factors there are that distort things.

There are differences from the screenshot we've seen of that area, but i think it might be a later version in the screenshot?

The light look sectioned into a few tube bulbs in the screenshot, and the wall stops on the top right above the B1 sign leaving black space (it isn't the angle of the shot, the door code is straight). The width of the banister looks a bit slimmer in the screenshot too but that's a little harder to call. The door frame also looks different in the screenshot. With the flat light it makes me think if it is a real render, then it's a slightly unfinished one. If it's a homemade render, it's a damn near accurate one.

By the way does anyone have an archive of all the screenshots found of 1.5, from Bioflames and magazines and these newer leaks, etc? I used to have at least all the Bioflames ones but i've lost them in a mountain of discs.

I'm afraid that background is not the same. There are several differences as mentioned earlier, one that should be noted is that it isn't even the same font used on the sign. Another is that the texture on the concrete wall does not match up. Look at the indentations in the concrete wall using the corner of the room as reference. It is way off.

The other info being discussed here about 1.5 it is hard to differentiate between what's speculations, hopeful wishing and hard facts. There are few facts seen here except new images that may or may not be from 1.5. I'll wait and see.

As a sidenote about unreleased RE games; I was working quite ferociously for several months on a book/webzine about unreleased RE content and this community has been incredible in digging up information, more so than any other community I've ever been part of. I have a few new things to add to this ongoing saga myself, but I'll leave this here for now; during a short e-mail interview with Ward Sexton (the awesome guy who says both Biohazard and Resident Evil on the title screen, as well as does trailer voice-overs for Capcom) me mentioned that during development of RE 3.5 there was talks about several versions being worked on at the same time and that it was sort of a competition between the teams for which one would get picked.

Nah, it will be part of the webzine (a pdf with magazine layout) I'm working on, so nothing released at the moment. He probably wouldn't mind getting some fan questions though, so you can locate his website here http://www.wardsexton.com/. Bare in mind that I have already asked him just about anything there is to know about resident evil 1.5/3.5, and his seemingly honest answer was simply that he didn't know anything. He only got a few comments on the games and never got to see any of it. That comment about them being worked on at the same time was just about the only thing that was worth mentioning from the interview. Of course chances are he misunderstood something or remembers it wrong.

Good advice to finding out more about RE: stop browsing the web for more information. Track down the people who worked on it and try to get hold of them. That is where the really valuable info is.

It's really no secret that multiple concepts for RE4 were being worked on simultaneously, one of them became what we refer to as the Fog/Progenitor version, another the Hookman version, there was another version where zombies came back, another became DMC, and another became what we know now as RE4.
